Explore the EduFire Virtual Classroom

"Be a rockstar teacher."  That slogan is both an invitation and a challenge.

I signed up for an eduFire account as a tutor... and have since taken quite a few classes myself.  It's a testament to the organization that so many teachers also enjoy using the platform for learning.

Among the offerings: foregn language, test prep, business, and enrichment classes.  The virtual classroom allows a person to sample a smorgasboard of classes, many of them taught by experienced teachers -- and to do so from the comfort of their home, with little monetary commitment.  Teachers use webcam and/or Adobe connect presentation mode to hold discussions and present material.

There are many dedicated teachers using the eduFire platform... and, yes (as with any platform) the occasional not-so-dedicated individual.  How do you know if a particular tutor is right for you?  Study the profiles, the articles and documents that teachers have written and uploaded, and the professional sites or blogs their profiles link to.  It may also be helpful to peruse reviews and testimonials.

Luckily, you can explore various subjects and presentation styles. Many teachers offer free survey classes.  They do so for various reasons: because they are establishing their online presence, because they are branching off into special interests or areas outside their formal training... or simply because they love to teach.  Some teachers genuinely enjoy spending their Sunday morning leading a presentation/discussion on the subject "If you could bring only four composers to a desert island, who would they be?"

Individual tutoring sessions are also available, at rates set by the individual teacher.

E-learning Across the Lifespan

The EduFire tutoring platform is for adults and adolescents over thirteen.

Several EduFire teachers offer classes for parents who are homeschooling young children. See Valerie for tidbits about Montessori learning, and me (Karen) to learn about writing programs...

I am including an RSS feed of my own teaching blog, with information about Edufire classes and off-site classes and resources for families with children under thirteen.

As a teacher and a student I've always prefered the interaction in a classroom, but classes online are changing. Now I can sit at home and attend a class. It's a win/win situation.
    Thanks for sharing
