The Eee PC 900 was eagerly awaited since the favorable impact the Eee PC 700 series made when it came to the market in October 2007.
Originally intended for children and beginners to computing, the ASUS Eee PC 700 quickly became a "must have" accessory for a broad spectrum of computer users with ASUSTeK reportedly shipping a million Eee PCs to date. The quality of its build, tiny size, wireless capability, and its .92g weight have made it an affordable, highly desirable ultra-portable laptop.

ASUSTeK Computers Inc., the Taiwanese company, launched their latest offering in the micro laptop market, the Eee PC 900, at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hanover, Germany in early March 2008.
The Eee PC 900 sports several improvements over the original versions. Most notably the screen is larger, measuring 9 inches vs. 7-inches. Color options are so far limited to black or white clamshells - no pink, blue or green versions yet.
Buyers are able to choose between the more familiar Windows XP operating system or Linux. Both versions of the mini laptop sport 1GB of RAM memory with storage capacity for the Windows XP model being 12GB and the Linux version able to hold 20GB of programs and data on its Solid State Disk.
The price tag is approximately US$600, £399, or EU399.

More Eee PC 900 Specs
The touchpad on the Eee PC 900 is larger than on the previous models and is reportedly much easier to use. The larger 9 inch screen has a 1,024 by 600 pixels resolution compared to the 800 x 400 of the previous version. It also sports a 1.3-megapixel camera though it lacks an internal modem so there is no dial-up capability.
The laptop is wireless enabled with an Intel Mobile Processor, 3 USB ports, a VGA out port, and 1 x SD/MMC slot.

The 900 series is currently a good value for money because of the introduction of expensive models like the 901 and 1000. Moreover, the atom powered newer Eee PCs are said to be slower than the 900 series.
