Effects of Smoking - You Are NOT Just Hurting Yourself

I am not a smoker. I have never smoked nor do I ever intend to smoke. However, I have been exposed to the effects of smoking most of my life.
Smoking can cause more than physical damage. My mother smoked, my husbands mother and father smoked. They are all dead.

My husbands mother died of throat and lung cancer and his father died of emphysema and lung cancer. My mother, well let me tell you a short story. My mother was so excited, she was going to be 60, the legal age to retire and receive social security. She came to visit and said the most peculiar thing. I use the word peculiar because that is a nice way of saying stupidest. We were talking and she says, "Honey, I never realized that smoking could damage your heart. I knew it could damage your lungs, but I never realized it could damage your heart."

I had tried to get my mother to quit smoking since I was old enough to know what smoking did to you. I was in grammar school and I was in health class and the teacher showed us a pink healthy lung and a lung of someone who had been smoking. I was so upset. The smoking lung was black and shrivelled and just, yuck. From that point on, I was terrified. I wanted my mother to quit and I was ready to do anything. So, I came home from school, took all my mother's cigarettes and matches, and hid them under my bed. Needless to say, she was not happy. However, the funniest thing happened. When I finally reluctantly told her where I hid them, she yelled at me (not what you think). She said, "Do you know how dangerous it is for you to have matches under your bed? What if you started a fire?" She said nothing about the cigarettes.

Many many times I tried later on in life to get her to quit. I cried, begged, and pleaded with her but she just would not or could not do it. Finally, when I was older and she had grandchildren, she tried to quit. She actually tried a few times. No use, she just could not do it.

I saw my mother in June and she was gone in September. She had so many plans for her retirement. She was going to spend more time with the family. She and my step-father had plans. She and I were going to go away together, mother/daughter trips. Now, those plans are gone, forever. I really miss her.

The reason I am sharing this story with you is because I am absolutely sure that there is someone in your life that you are hurting by smoking and exposing to the effects of smoking.
I do not mean second hand smoke. Yes, that is bad too, but I mean by smoking and shortening your life and the time you can spend with your loved ones. Smoking does not only hurt you. Think about it!! Quit !

Effects of Smoking - Another Alternative to Smoking Tobacco

Why Smoke E-Cigarettes?

I do not smoke nor have I ever smoked. I lost my mother to cigarettes recently. She was my best friend. I miss her every day. I tried desperately many times to get her to quit. She would try, but to no avail. She tried everything, from nicotine patches to hypnosis. Nothing worked. I wish that they would have come up with E-cigarettes earlier because I think if she would have had access to a product like this she might have been able to quit or at least lessen the devastating effects of smoking real cigarettes.

There are so many devastating effects of smoking. One of which is an addiction to smoking.

When people talk about addiction to smoking, the addiction most commonly discussed is the addiction to the nicotine. Nicotine is one of the most addictive chemicals in the country today. In fact, nicotine has been proven to be more addictive than heroine, cocaine, or alcohol. It is not more harmful, but it is definitely more addictive in nature than any other chemical.

However, the act of smoking itself is also an addiction of its own. No one wants to be controlled by another individual, but when you smoke you are letting an object (the object of smoking a cigarette) control you. Smoking becomes a habit. A habit is like an addiction and very hard to break.

When you smoke, your hands are used to holding something all the time and your mouth is used to being active holding a cigarette.
When you try to quit, you not only have to fight your addiction to nicotine, but also you need to fight the addiction to the act of smoking.

This was another very hard thing my mother could not give up. The E-cigarette looks and feels like a real tobacco cigarette. With the use of this product, I believe that it would have satisfied that part of the addiction and she would have had a better chance of succeeding in quitting.

If you have to smoke, try E-cigarettes. If you cannot quit altogether, which is the best thing to do. At least you will limit your exposure to all the devastating effects of smoking tobacco cigarettes and satisfy your craving for nicotine and the actual act of smoking. The benefits of smoking E-cigarettes far outweighs the devastating effects of smoking tobacco cigarettes.

Effects of Smoking - Is it Really Glamorous?

Not anymore!

In the 1940's and 1950's, before they knew what smoking was really doing to them, smoking was glamorous. Everyone wanted to be like the movie stars. They were rich and they were glamorous, and they were smoking.

Today, many movie stars speak out against smoking. You learn throughout your school days in health class all the dangers of smoking. You learn that smoking causes lung disease, heart disease, and so many other problems. Not to mention, the very real threat of second hand smoke to others.

So, answer me this question. If everyone is made aware of all of the effects of smoking, Why does anyone start smoking? I understand that once they start, they have a real addiction to nicotine and at that point it is a physical as well as a mental addiction, which makes it a very difficult addiction to stop, but why start at all? Think about it! Quit !

Effects of Smoking - Why Smoke?

No good reason to smoke!

People say that one of the reasons they smoke is to release stress.  What is stress?, can they really release it through smoking?  Let's discuss this.

What is stress?  Stress is the feeling of being overwhelmed, helpless, incapable of performing, not able to meet deadlines, and increased pressure.  Stress could be due to any reason, be it work pressure, personal pressures, may be due to financial crisis, or it could be due to anything.

Can you really remove this stress with smoking?  Can you smoke away your blues?  No, not really.  Smoking under any circumstances is bad for you and not helpful in stress release.  So, then how do you handle a stressful situation?  The answer is, you confront it.  Face the problem and find a solution to it.  It is only a positive attitude and logical thinking that helps you come out of a crisis situation.

There is no reason to smoke and the effects of smoking are devastating.

Effects of Smoking - Freedom in America

Read this!!

Should cigarettes be banned?  Should others around you have to be exposed to the effects of smoking?  This is such a controversial subject.  We live in a democratic country.  Our country is founded on the fact that everyone has rights; however, every day the government is trying to change that.

For example the helmet and seat belt laws.  The helmet law states that you must wear a helmet or you will be fined.  This law takes away your freedom to make your own choice.  If you don't wear a helmet, you are only hurting yourself, no one else.  Same thing goes for the seat belt law.  However, when it comes to smoking, you are not only hurting yourself with your smoking.

Studies show that there is no doubt that second hand smoke is definitely dangerous to those around you.

The big problem here is that I believe in freedom, freedom to make your own choices; good or bad.  Our government is set up so that people do have rights.  As it is, too many laws are being passed that challenge these rights.

However, when it comes to smoking there is more to discuss.  On the one hand, I believe that people who do not smoke should not have to be subjected to smoking if they do not choose to.  However, on the other hand, I do not believe that the government should have the right to stop people from smoking in their own homes if they want to.  This is going too far.

After saying that though, smokers have to realize that when they smoke they are not only hurting themselves, but also their loved ones.

You have the right to decide whether or not to smoke.  Just remember that when you smoke and are in a group of people or with your family and friends that you are not only hurting yourself but also subjecting others around you to all the devastating effects of smoking.  Think about it!  Quit!!

Effects of Smoking - What Is an E-Cigarette?

How does an E-Cigarette work?

Science has produced a product that looks, feels, and tastes like a tobacco cigarette. It requires the same mechanical motions as smoking a real tobacco cigarette. The E-cigarette expels an almost odorless water vapor that looks like smoke, but does not produce the same devastating effects that smoking tobacco does.

What is inside an E-cigarette?

An E-cigarette is driven by modern microelectronic technology. The body of an E-cigarette is an integrated structure made up of a cartridge, an atomization chamber, a smart chip controller, and a lithium battery. In the front of the E-cigarette is an operating mode indicator that lights up when you use it simulating the burn of a tobacco cigarette.

The most intriguing part of an E-cigarette is the atomization chamber. This atomizer is responsible for creating the vapor like smoke, very much like a real cigarette, but without all the devastating effects of second-hand smoke. This vapor is a result from the heating up or atomizing of the liquid inside the cartridge. The atomizer produces the vapor that when inhaled gives the user the physical sensation and nicotine hit that smokers crave. The E-cigarette gives the smoker the full effect of smoking real tobacco cigarettes without all the harmful effects.

Why smoke an E-cigarette?

There are many benefits to smoking an E-cigarette versus a tobacco cigarette.
Beside the health implications, with this new technology, smokers can now join the public again without sharing all the harmful and disgusting side effects of smoking.

One of the biggest benefits is no second-hand smoke, so no more being ostracized from the public. This product is not as offensive as cigarettes and may become an acceptable alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes in public. And, of course my biggest hope is that by using this product, smokers will be able to wean themselves off cigarettes completely and reap all of the benefits of quitting.

So, if you need to smoke, vape an E-cigarette and start on your road to a healthier life.

Effects of Smoking

Why Quit?

Effects of not smoking are definitely more beneficial than the effects of smoking.  So, in this article we are going to concentrate on all of the positive reasons to quit.

I am going to share with you some of the best reasons to quit.  You probably wonder how long it will take once you quit to actually start seeing results and feeling the benefits.  Not only will you breathe better and get rid of all those nasty ashtrays and get that horrible smell out of your hair and clothes but also you will start seeing some physical changes almost immediately.

Within the first 20 minutes of quitting, your blood pressure and pulse rate will drop to normal.  Within 8 hours, the carbon monoxide levels in your blood drops to normal and the oxygen level increases.  By the end of the day (24 hours), your chance of having a heart attack has decreased.

After day 2, your destroyed nerve endings will begin to redevelop and regrow.  Your ability to smell and taste things noticeably improves.

On day 3, your bronchial tubes begin to relax making it easier to breathe.

Wow! Who would believe that after such a short time of not smoking there would be such a difference in your health.  Your body is constantly recovering and getting better each day.  Just quit for 3 or 4 days and see how much easier it is to breathe and how much better you will feel.  Just hang in there, don't give up.

Within a couple months, your body is still healing.  Through these weeks your circulation and breathing improve making it easier to walk.  Your lungs start to function up to 30% better.

During this time and sometimes taking up to a year, your coughing, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease and your immune system improves.  Each day comes more improvement.

Within a year, your risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker and within 2 years, the risk of having a heart attack drops to near normal.  This means that after 2 years of not smoking, you are almost as healthy as someone who never smoked.

Within 5 years of quitting, your risk of having a stroke is reduced and the risk of getting lung cancer is cut in half.

After 15 years, the risk of you having coronary heart disease becomes the same as someone who has never smoked.  Your body is almost that of someone who has never smoked, adding years to your life, which goes to show that it is never too late to quit and defeat all the detrimental effects of smoking.  So, think about all the benefits of quitting.  Make the right decision. Quit!!

Effects of Smoking - Why is it so Hard to Quit?

Hypnosis is the Answer!

In this article we will discuss why it is so hard for people to quit smoking. We will discuss another one of the effects of smoking. Habitual smoking behaviors reside in the unconscious mind where they become a conditional response.

Research has showed that when smokers first start smoking they buy into years of conditioning telling them that smoking somehow makes them feel better, more confident, and more relaxed.

As a result of lighting up those first few cigarettes, smokers permanently instill these extremely unhelpful beliefs directly into their unconscious, beliefs that also include the concept that quitting is going to be really difficult.

Smokers also make the conscious decision to choose those perceived benefits of feeling better, more confident, and more relaxed over the initial physical reactions of the horrible burning sensation and inhaling of the poisonous fumes.

As time goes on, the uncomfortable physical reactions subside and they now have a very real addiction to nicotine. They start to mistake the relief of feeding this addiction with feelings of relaxation and confidence.

Now, many years later, after smoking cigarette after cigarette, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, etc., they have reenforced those unhelpful beliefs about smoking and how hard it is to quit and, they have also trained their unconscious mind to wrongly associate the process of lighting and smoking a cigarette with feeling better, more relaxed, and confident; therefore, reenforcing this conditional response.

To counteract this conditional response, you need to actually retrain the unconscious mind to disregard these false beliefs about smoking and how hard it is to quit and swap them for something altogether more exciting and fulfilling.

Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) are forms of hypnosis used to retrain the unconscious mind. As a result, the all too familiar withdrawal pangs of irritability, mood swings, and cravings, the primary reasons why people fail to permanently quit smoking, are replaced with feelings of relaxation, improved self confidence, and overall happiness.
NLP is a safe and easy way to quit smoking. So, for your health, confidence, and overall happiness, QUIT and eliminate all the effects of smoking!!
