Be Emotionally Free with EFT

EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, is an easy yet effective method developed by Gary Craig that allows quick release of negative emotions. EFT involves tapping on certain meridian points that communicate energetic information throughout the human body while focused on the emotion we want to release.

Energetic Information?

When our bodies feel any negative emotion it is directly caused by a "glitch" in our bodies Energy System. This "glitch" carries with it what seems in some cases to be the weight of the world. Past experiences and traumatic events stay with us long after the event is gone. The negative emotions we feel after that event occurs can linger on and shape our thought processes for the future. This "new" thought process we learn after something unfavorable happens to us can lead to a life time of stress and anxiety and a whole host of other negative emotions that we know do not serve us in any way.

These negative emotions can keep us stuck in our lives unable to reach the next level of where we want to be. They can actually manifest illness and unexplained aches and pains in our bodies that hinder the quality of our lives. They can cause us to turn to bad habits like smoking, over eating, drinking, drugs, gambling, nail biting and other nervous behaviors that only cause more damage to our bodies. This happens because of the body's inability to fully deal with the emotion that started it all.

With EFT you can rid yourself of these negative emotions. Whatever they are, whatever they've caused. In the process of getting rid of the emotion you can also alleviate the physical symptoms as well.

EFT is used virtually on anything that ails you, the list is long and continues to grow.

Here's What Happens 

More than 5,000 years ago the Chinese discovered an energy system, or circuits, that coursed through the human body. These circuits, or meridians, became the center stone for all Eastern healing methods, and modern day acupuncture and acupressure. What was discovered was the importance of our energy system and how when it was balanced our bodies experienced perfect health and emotional well being. When unbalanced we opened ourselves up to not only emotional instability, but various weaknesses in our body that left room for illness and other physical ailments to set in.

The Energy System is where the CAUSE for all health and disease in our body lies. When we experience a negative emotion it is the DIRECT RESULT OF OUR ENERGY SYSTEM BEING IN A STATE OF UNBALANCE. It causes a "GLITCH", much like that of an electrical device that just stops working unexplainable.

We've been taught in Western Society that the trauma you experienced caused your depression, or your job causes your stress. That fall you took caused the broken leg, and because your father had high blood pressure you will too, or cancer, or IBS, or ADD, or any other physical illness that's diagnosed.

Western Medicine does not take into account something that can literally simplify disease--YOUR ENERGY SYSTEM IS IN A STATE OF UNBALANCE.

Whatever ails our bodies: depression, stress, PTSD, diabetes, cancer, MS, ADD/ADHD, IBS, constipation, high blood pressure, chronic back pain---whatever it is--THESE ARE THE SYMPTOMS of your Energy System being unbalanced. Western Medicine will treat the symptom and ignore the root because Western Medicine focuses on the chemical nature of the human body and doesn't give much attention to the subtle energy that flows through us.

EFT can literally realign your Energy System by a few very easy and painless tapping motions on various Energy Meridians in your body. However, once you learn the technique you'll be reaching for it instead of the medicine you may have come accustomed to taking for that chronic headache or back pain. You can literally erase feelings of depression in a matter of minutes. You can let go of whatever emotional baggage you've been carrying around with you that causes you to overeat, smoke, bite your nails, take drugs, drink and any other self defeating ritual that you take part in.

Let's Get Started...

I want you to think of something that's bothering you right now. Whether is be emotional or physical. Try to tap into your feelings as you think about that situation or the people involved? Then, name the feeling or emotion, if you cannot name the specific feeling, just call it "This emotion", but make sure it's if you label your problem "this emotion" that you are fully able to tie the two together. Now, rate the intensity of the emotional response on a scale from zero to ten, with ten being the most intense and zero being no emotional response at all.

Perform The Setup: With the finger pads of the index and middle fingers of your dominant hand, begin tapping lightly the "Karate Chop" point of opposite hand. The fleshy part on the side of the hand below the little finger is known as the Karate Chop point. While continuously tapping this point, repeat the following Setup Statement three times: "Even though I have this emotion, I deeply and completely love and accept myself." If you can name the emotion, then replace the word "emotion" with the specific feeling such as "anger," "guilt," or "sadness."

As I pointed out above physical pain or discomfort can also be treated with EFT. Simply replace the word "emotion" with a description of the problem such as "headache," " lower back pain," or "this cold." For example, to treat the pain from a headache I repeat, "Even though I have this headache, I deeply and completely love and accept myself," three times while continuously tapping the Karate Chop point.

Important: It seems a bit strange, but the set up statement is crucial in EFT working as it corrects a problem we call Psychological Reversal, which is commonly known as "Self Sabotage". This can prevent EFT from working so if you aren't getting anywhere after you complete the entire round which includes the tapping points explained below, repeat the Set Up Statement by being very emphatic on the "I love and accept myself" part. Really say it with emphasis and see where that takes you.

Next, perform the Tapping Sequence (see Meridian Guide below for tapping points) by tapping about five times on each point with the end points or "pads" of your fingers. Two fingers is best, sometimes I use four so I can cover a larger area and reach more end points of the meridians there. You are now rebalancing your energy system. Make sure you keep focused on the emotion or problem by repeating a Reminder Phrase similar to the Setup Statement. So for instance, to release stress, I repeat, "This stress" while tapping lightly about five times on each of the following points:

EB = Beginning of the Eye Brow
SE = Side of the Eye
UE = Under the Eye
UN = Under the Nose
CH = The Chin
CB = Beginning of the Collar Bone
UA = Under the Arm
KC = Karate Chop Point

Points on either side of the body can be used, and if you'd like to switch to the other side of your body during the process that is fine as well.

Take a deep breath. Now focus on the emotion you were addressing. Rate the intensity of that feeling again on the 0-10 scale. If you were feeling stress on a level of 5 or 6, is it still at that same level? Here's what you could find.

Complete Relief

If the feeling you had is completely relieved, and you're registering a 0 on a scale of 1 to 10, great! You responded really well and now know the power of EFT!

Partial Relief

Usually though, there is a reduction in the level of intensity of the emotion, say from a 5 or 6 to a 2 or 3. The remainder of the emotion needs to be treated with another round or two of EFT. In the subsequent rounds, it is important to adjust the Setup Statement and the Reminder Phrase to address the rest of the emotion or feeling. Use wording similar to, "Even though I STILL have SOME of this emotion, I deeply and completely love and accept myself," and repeat it three times while tapping the Karate Chop point. Then repeat, "This remaining stress," or "This remaining problem" during the Tapping Sequence. Do as many rounds of EFT as necessary until your emotional response is zero when you focus on the original experience from Step #1.

No Relief

If the first round of EFT did not lower the intensity of the feeling, try becoming more specific with the Setup Statement. For example, stress is a very global issue so you may need to define who or what is causing the stress to unblock the stuck energy. You could then repeat something similar to "Even though I have this stress about my deadline at work, I deeply and completely accept myself" during the Setup. Then you could use "this deadline stress" as a Reminder Phrase during the Tapping Sequence. Along with being more specific, persistence is sometimes necessary with this technique to reach a breakthrough. Try a few more rounds of EFT and see if the intensity of the problem or emotion eases somewhat. You can also go back and redo the set up, but this time say your affirmation very emphatically and with great emotion. Even if you don't believe it. Often times that alone will help. If you still don't get relief then you may want to e-mail me and we can discuss possible issues such as allergies or the way you are doing the technique.

This simple, or "shortcut," version of EFT is around 60 % effective and often results is some sort of relief for a specific problem. However, coached by a skilled practitioner, who will know how to deal with special blocks that sometimes stand in the way of success is sometimes the best way to begin using EFT. It won't take long to get the hang of it and you'll be on your own in no time. I'm happy to report that I've only had one client not respond to EFT with full relief. We concluded it was a food allergy. Once she eliviated the food item out of her diet the problem went away with it so we never had to go back and do EFT. Sometimes this happens.

How Will You Use EFT in Your Life?

Now that you have the basics of a powerful tool, try it on any negative or uncomfortable emotion you encounter and to help you gain control over many areas in your life. Try it on everything! EFT has no negative side effects, and the procedure only takes a few minutes to complete. EFT is known to be on the bottom floor of a healing high rise. Important Information 

Although I have seen with my own eyes the most tremendous results from EFT, it is still ever changing and evolving. There are absolutely no side effects (except the ones you want) from EFT, however you must take responsibility in your use of it.

The above example of EFT is in it's most basic form to give you an example of what it possible, it is not intended for your use on other people. Only experienced practitioners should perform EFT on others, this is a useful guide for you to do EFT on yourself. This information is not intended to substitute instructions from your doctor, however it is my belief that EFT, if done with a Master EFT
Practitioner, can produce extraordinary results around any issue you may have.

CASE STUDY #2-Christine

Sorry for the lapse of time since this new case study. I can't keep up with the results I'm seeing with my clients with EFT.

See how EFT helped a woman out with extreme anxiety

Christine 

Christine was suffering from debilitating anxiety attacks due to some money issues she and her husband were having. These attacks would occur through out the day and at night and were brought on unexpectantly. She would wake up in the middle of night not able to catch her breath with her heart beating a mile a minute. This affected her work, her sleeping and eating habits, her marriage and family-her entire life.

Christine came to me wanting some relief from the anxiety so I told her about EFT, and because she was ready to try anything we started right away.

We began with a simple set up statement just involving the anxiety:

"Even though I have this anxiety because of my lack of money, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

She was registering a 10 on her intensity meter that soon dissipated to a 5, so we kept tapping.

"Even though I still have this anxiety of my lack of money, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

She reported going down to a 3, so we tapped again.

"Even though I still have this last remaining anxiety over my lack of money, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

FYI: we were tapping on each meridian using the 100% overhaul method.

At that point after three rounds she could find the anxiety anymore so we began to reprogram her thoughts about money.

She was suffering from a horrible case of "Lack". Because of this lack of money in her life she suffered through fear, anxiety and of course, more lack. She told me her whole life had been about lack; lack of money, lack of love, lack of friends. Even though she had always done well for herself, had a wonderful marriage and great friends, all she could concentrate on was the fear of not having those things. So of course it was no wonder that she was having the money issues she was having.

So we began to tap on the feelings of lack in her life.

"Even though I have this fear that I don't have enough money, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Then we tapped using the each meridian point along with adding in her wrist and the top of her head.

"Even though I never feel like I have enough, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Again, 100% over haul with wrist and top of the head.

"Even though what I have never seems like it's going to be enough, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Tap as above

"Even though I have this fear that more will not come to me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Tap as above.

We used the same set up statements for love and affection from her husband, and having supportive friends around her. Then the last round was the "rebooting" round:

With each point I tapped on I had her repeat the following:

"There is always more than enough for me." Tapped on EB point.
"I enjoy abundance in my life." Tapped on SE point.
"There is always more than enough available to me." Tapped on UE point.
"I enjoy my abundant life." Tapped on UN point
"Money flows to me easily and effortlessly." Tapped on Chin point.
"There is more than enough for everyone including me." Tapped on CB point.
"There is always more than enough for me." Tapped on the top of her head.

That's it and I'm happy to report her anxiety has not returned and it's been about a year now. She's also told me that she doesn't have the same money worries she used to have and money has been flowing in to her easily and effortlessly since our appointment.
