Hello! I've published a travel/photography book called, "Europe For The Senses - A Photographic Journal". I'm really excited about it as quite different from other travel books you may have used. This is not just about pictures or about dumping a ton of information on a traveler. "Europe For The Senses" is a collection of photography and creative writing meant to transport the reader to each respective destination with stimulating sensory imagery. Experience the sights, smells, sounds, tastes, and touch that make Europe a remarkable compilation of uniquely beautiful countries. Whether a novice or a seasoned traveler, EFTS hopes to invoke a craving for Europe - not only for the major sites that attract so many but the small, much overlooked details waiting to be discovered!
Since moving overseas, I've realized that so many of us live in this little bubble, only thinking about what affects us directly and in our own little town/county/state/country. I am looking to enlighten and entertain everyone who is interested in what's beyond their personal horizon. Traveling abroad, even to Europe, still seems to be intimidating for so many. I hope to convey a way that people can 'feel' a little of what it is like to be in these places. Doing something new becomes less scary when you develop a yearning for it.

- April 4, 2006: Book Donation at Böblingen Elementary School Library - my first public book signing! I donated a hardcover book to my son's school, Böblingen Elementary. Mrs. Deatherage, the principal, hosted and both my son and I signed the book before formally turning it over to the school librarian. I got to speak to a group of 2nd graders before the event was over and the school featured the donation in the next paper.

St. Charles native Vicki Landes has recently had a book published, "Europe for the Senses - A Photographic Journal." Landes, who lives in Germany with her husband who is in the military, has been able to travel extensively and shares her most personal photographs of Europe.
The book features quaint villages, majestic castles and narrow roads that weave their way through Europe. Landes has traveled to 44 countries during her husband's time in Stuttgart, Germany.

Book Reviews
- "Landes' new book takes a different approach. Rather than offering readers just gorgeous photographs, she provides a personal narrative of what it would be like for someone viewing the particular scene".
--Ellen Tanner Marsh, New York Times Best Selling Author - "I feel like I'm there! Vicki's photography coupled with her descriptive writing instantly transports the reader to the most intriguing parts of Europe".
--Faye Hess, Italian cuisine and culture expert, author of upcoming book "FAYEFOOD" - "Europe For The Senses: A Photographic Journal" by author, traveler, and photographer Vicki Landes is a breathtaking collection of full-color photographs from around Europe. Images range from wildflowers to the Leaning Tower of Pisa juxtaposed against an aerial view of flying to Pisa, to Luxembourg's American Military Cemetery, and much more. Most photographs have a brief commentary in the form of text, printed in a handwriting-style font and reminiscing fond memories as well as recounting historical facts about the images that portray classic locations. A joy to page through, and the perfect giftbook for Europhiles. --John Burroughs, Reviewer for the Midwest Book Review
- "Europe For The Senses" is a gourmet delight punctuated with the spice of a well-prepared meal. The book elevates your senses and tickles your palate with its rich flavor of color and text. It invites one into each picture to see, hear, smell, listen, and touch
the reachable and unreachable. It takes you to another world with its vivid scenes. It makes you believe you are not just viewing each photo, but transported into its midst. A job well done.
--Inge Auerbacher, prize-winning author of "I Am A Star", "Beyond the Yellow Star To America", "Running Against The Wind", and "Finding Dr. Schatz."
Visit Inge's website: www.ingeauerbacher.com - I live in Germany, myself, and this book was made by one of our (school) student's parent. No bias here, really, when I say this is the best book I've ever seen like this. Europe has a lot of beautiful books published about various sites and cities. This one tops them all! Just absolutely beautiful!
-- Sherry Hancock - Vicki Landes captured the essence of the European architecture and landscapes through the artistic lense of her camera. Her photographs take one back to Europe to make one feel like they're almost walking through the streets of Europe. She was able to capture the correct angles, lighting, and color. Her book is the best representation of Europe on the market today.
--Dr. Henry M. McGibbon - Loved it! Beautiful photography and charming narrative will make those who have been to Europe yearn to go back, and those who have never visited will want to make travel plans.
--Rebecca Augsburger - I love this book. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. The writing makes you feel like you're there.
--Dawn Bradley - The photos in this book are extraordinary, especially the ones from Iceland. Beautiful book, highly recommended.
--Kristin - My neighbor brought this book over last night and I could hardly put it down! Not only were the pictures fantastic, but Vicki made you feel as though you were on the tour with her. I've just placed my order for the book. It's a great one to have whether you plan to go to Europe or not!
--Linda - I was thinking about a trip to Europe, but after a friend showed me a copy of "Europe for the Senses" Wow, I have to go. The pictures are so inspiring along with the discriptions, I'll make sure I don't miss the Black Forest. Such a great book, it now has a home on my coffee table.
