Welcome Laker Families and Staff!

Welcome to the 2008-09 school year at Emerald Hills Elementary (EHE). We are so lucky to have such wonderful teachers, staff, parents, students and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) all working together to create an outstanding learning environment for our children.

Your EHE PTO is a voluntary organization helping bring together parents and teachers at Emerald Hills Elementary. We help to build parental involvement and community at school and conduct fundraisers and other activities that raise much needed funds for the needs of our teachers and students.
We have formed this website to help keep you informed of all the PTO is doing for you and your Lakers!

HELP US WIN!!!

Here's a list of current contests and promotions..

The Wal-Mart Recycle Challenge has begun!!
Photobucket

This is a fun and educational program that teaches our Lakers the importance of recycling while earning money for our school at the same time!

The low down:
We earn $5.00 for every 60-gallon collection bag we fill with plastic shopping and grocery bags and deliver to our local Wal-Mart store for recycling by March 31, 2009.

Rewards: The top three schools to bring in the most collection bags win additional rewards: 1st Place: $3,000 ~ 2nd Place: $2,000 ~ 3rd Place: $1,000.

Please send in your plastic shopping bags The bags do no have to be from Wal-Mart. You can recycle plastic shopping and grocery bags of any color and type except black (black printing on the bags is ok - black bags are not).
Remove everything from the plastic bags prior to recycling - including register receipts. They need to be clean, dry and empty. Don't forget to include plastic from other items such as shrink wrap from toilet tissue, paper towels, etc.

PLASTIC BOTTLES/CONTAINERS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED!

Thank you!!

Did you know?? Your recycled plastic is being made into new products such as clean new plastic shopping bags, outdoor decking and railing products, park benches, garden and lawn edging, & decorative tiles to name just a few!

Don't forget to ask friends and relatives to donate as well. It's something everyone has and usually wants to get rid of!

This year your PTO will recognize volunteers with our new Helping Hands Program.

Here's how it works:
Each time you volunteer your time at EHE,
Get a pre-cut "hand" from the office, near the volunteer sign-in book.

Thank you for lending a hand to our teachers and students!!!

Laker Fitness Center @ EHE!

Some great things are taking place this year in our P.E. Departement!

Did you know your child has gained 15 extra minutes of class??? In the past, classes had two days of fitness @ 30 minutes each. This year each class will have two 45 minute classes! That's the equivalent of three regular fitness classes! Mr. Holme is very excited about this new change and the opportunities that it presents.
Don't forget to check out Mr. Holmes' new website packed with fun and informative information for you and your Laker!

Year Book

Year books are a great way to create a lifetime of memories of your child's school years.

and we are already thinking of this important project!
If you:
*Help in class
*Attend skate nights/Family nights
*Go on field trips
Remember to take a camera and snap pictures of these precious times.
Any pictures of classrooms, recess, etc., will be greatly appreciated.
Please sent your photos (marked Yearbook Photos) on a disk to the school office or email photos to:
chuck_eychaner@sumner.wednet.edu
Thanks Mr. Eychaner for taking on this project!
