Tracking eHow Earnings and Articles
Big Update:
The WCP is closed. Any content remaining after the sweeps is now being deleted outright or is being bought for a flat fee.
I started writing articles for Ehow in December, 2008. I've seen some income, which very nearly floored me. I might have actually fallen over if I had not been dancing so enthusiastically when the money actually hit my Paypal account and subsequently my bank account. I like sharing my knowledge and to make money for it is more than I could hope for.
Ehows biggest problem is the payment algorithm is a big mystery. They tell you there are a lot of factors to earning, while most Ehowers speculate that it is really just ad clicks. I prescribe to this theory, because I can't see them paying you only for quality if no one is clicking the ads to make thm money, and I can't see them denying you money for ad clicks just because they see your article as non-quality.
It's understandable to have this algorithm a mystery partially because if the public were to know it there would be some bad seeds who ruined it for the rest of us by cheating, but mostly, because we are paid through Google Adsense who also keeps their algorithm secret and ever-changing. Can't let us know the math to something you don't know the math to.
I'm going to chart my weekly earnings for one year and list some of my favorite articles in a neatly categorized way.
eHow is no more! Well, the site still exists, but eHow no longer accepts articles directly to the site. You now have to qualify to write with Demand Studios, which is a bigger hassle than the $15 flat rate is worth. I would recommend moving to Infobarrel to get some residual, monthly earnings going. You earn through a known algorithm and you can chart the earnings yourself using Google tools, unlike eHow where you just had to trust them - and we all know how well you can trust them now.
Because eHow now owns all of my articles permanently and I'm not earning any residual income on them, I am going to be replacing the links on this page with links to my rewritten infobarrel.com and seekyt.com articles.

How to Write for eHow
Everyone who comes to eHow to write wants to know, or at least SHOULD want to know, how to write for ehow in the most effective way possible. I think I've learned quite a bit, but I'm far from being an eHow expert. This is why I haven't written any articles or made any lenses or other webpages specifically about how to write for eHow. I occassionally share my information on the eHow forum, but even then it is only information I have gleaned from one of the other experts we have or answers very basic FAQ type questions.

- I did have a list of a few of the ebooks and websites here, but the list was getting a little too big and unweildy. Please visit the site about to learn more about all the various ebooks and websites about how to write for eHow.

Well, that's it. A full year of faithfully publishing and working my content. You got to watch my earnings take off, and then plummet in November, thanks to the creation of eHow UK and the theft of all member created content. If you want to know what eHow did with the member created content or don't understand what I mean about that then take a look at this blog post about eHow's scam.
Recommendations
A few people have found their way here based on the search of "what are eHow recommendations for", so I'm going to tell you exactly what eHow recommendations are for. Nothing, nada, zip. It's just like the point system. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy to see those numbers go up, that's all.
That being said, I have 62 recommendations. I think that if a visitor were to look at that and then look at another person who has only 2 recommendations and yet has been there as long as me, they may backtrack to my profile, because it appears as though I have more knowledge or at least more people found me useful.
The recommendation system at eHow is sorely abused with people just recommending in the hopes you will recommend them. I, personally, will only recommend someone if I genuinely LIKE their articles, I hope more people start doing the same.

Pet Rat Articles

I own two rats: Bumble Bee and Honey Comb. I've learned a lot from these two babies and I like sharing my knowledge with new rat owners, or those thinking about becoming rat owners.
- Bond with your rat
- When you get a rat from a pet store, they are usually only partially socialized. They don't hate people enough to try to bite them, but they really just don't like people yet. You need to warm up to your rat and give it time to warm up to you.
- Rat Harness
- This is an effective harness for any pet but is especially good for smaller animals. It's very cheap to make and if you can tie a knot you can make this harness.
- Clipping Rat Nails
- Rat nails can get long and that can be very unpleasant when they are running about on your arms, shoulders and feet. Give those nails a good and safe clip with these tips.
- Treating Pet Rat Fleas and Lice with Ivermectin
- Ivermectin is usually marketed for parasitic treatment in horses and bovine. As such, the tubes it comes in are far too large for even a whole house full of pet rats. But you can still use it to treat lice and flea infestations.
Wicca Articles
I've been a practicing Wiccan for a very long time. I don't see a reason to keep things secret about this religion though. There are a lot of people that might become more understanding if more Wiccans would be so open with information.
- Begin Developing Telekinesis
- Bend silverware with your mind. A guide to unlocking psychic abilities safely and easily.
- Wiccan Protection Spell
- Protect your loved ones from harm or from themselves. Be mindful of the three fold rule and do no harm yourself.
- Spells for Eye Color Change
- Change the color of your eyes with a simple, meditative spell.
- Acne Solution through Spell Casting
- An all natural, good for your skin technique to clear up acne.
- Money Spells that Really Work
- Want more money in your life? Tired of clawing your way up the ladder and never seeming to get anywhere? This spell will help you achieve your dreams, but remember, you have to put some work in it too.
Body Modification Articles
I'm big into body modification, not to the extent that some are into it, but I love all forms of it, whether it's on my own body or not. As such, I have done extensive research and have had a lot of experiences of my own that can help others heal better, faster and more permanently.- Prepare for a Piercing
- Getting ready for a piercing can be as important, if not more important than deciding where to get the piercing. Be ready. The more prepared your body is the better and faster you will heal.
- Regular Salt Soak
- Sea salt soaks can help keep your piercing healthy and healing beautifully. It takes just five minutes. Give it a try.
- Cure Itchy Body Piercings
- Itchy body piercings can be a horrible experience. Give this technique a try to make them stop.
- Oil Pulling to Moisturize Facial Piercings
- Facial piercings can get itchy and dry. Normal remedies don't work on them since they are always visible and open to the air. This all natural technique though is very healthy, not only for your piercings, but your entire body.
- Remove Rejecting Surface Piercings
- Surface piercings can be painful to have put in. But they don't have to be painful to remove if you know the right technique.
Money Saving Articles
I'm a college student. I don't have much money and I live on what I can make for myself without having a job. As such, I have become a master at getting something for nothing or at least for very little.
- Get Manufacturer's coupons
- Better than the coupons you clip and worth more than the paper they are printed on, manufacturer's coupons often give you an item for completely free. Follow these simple steps to get your amazing coupons in the mai.
Legal Articles
I'm going to college for a minor in law. Oddly enough, many of these articles were not written with my college gained knowledge of the law. They were written from experience. These are mostly documents that I have used and have become tried and true for me.
- Make a Lease Agreement
- Lease agreements can be expensive if you aren't sure how to write one. Sure, you could buy one, but how closely will it fit your needs? You could have a lawyer draft you one and it will be perfect, but if you're not really going into the rental profession that can be a waste of money you will never recoup. This is a simple, easy to make and understand way to make a lease.
- Lease Agreement for Roommates
- Don't just stop at a normal lease agreement with your landlord. If you're living with a buddy nothing can ruin that friendship faster than not planning for the worst.
- Stop Copyright Infringement with a Cease and Desist Letter
- There is an example letter throughout the steps, but it is best to personalize the letter a little. Even if you just use this form no company and no person can ignore it though; a cease and desist is no less relevent just because you didn't personalize it.
- Make a Printable Car Bill of Sale
- Selling or buying a car can be a very tricky thing. There's finding the right car, making sure everything works, working out a suitable price and a variety of other things. One thing you shouldn't have to stress about is a car bill of sale.
College Articles
As a college student I've been around the college block a few times and I've dealt with quite a few incoming freshmen who are just wholly and completely unprepared for what they are about to face.
- Filling out your FAFSA
- Most high schoolers know they need to fill out their FAFSA(though there is a surprisingly large number who don't even know what that is, to which I say, shame on you guidance counselors), but do students or parents know how to get the most out of it?
- Cheapest College Text Books
- College books can cost an arm and a leg(if only the bookstore really took appendages as payment), but there are places to get a better price. Try them before you go to the campus bookstore.

- Tara, since I am no longer writing at eHow, I have moved on to Helium and Squidoo. I am admittedly slow at getting started at Squidoo but see lots of interesting stuff of yours to read. Just wanted to say hi and congrats on graduating.

- So good to see you! I was wondering how Helium was doing for you. It's one of the places people bring up sometimes when trying to find a place to replace eHow.
Have you seen Listmyfive.com? It seems to be the hot new place. I think you would like it.

- Hope to get back to publishing more on eHow soon. Took a break to work on my mom's book of memories and promote that online.
