Eid is a holy religious festival of Islam. The Muslim peoples of the world celebrate this day with great joy and enthusiasm. Its the day of new moon after one month of the great fasting of Ramadan. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", and fitr means "to purify". So the event symbolizes the purification after completing the Ramzan (Ramadan) fasting. On the day of the celebration, Muslim peoples awake very early in morning, complete the first everyday prayer, and take a little meals as it is symbolizing the end of Ramadan. Then they gather in a special congregational prayers held in mosques or large open areas or stadiums and arenas.

Common greetings during this holiday are the Arabic greeting "Id Mubarak" ("Blessed Eid") or "Id Said" ("Happy Eid"). In addition, many other countries have their own greetings based on their local languages and traditions.
