A great dog movie!
Eight Below is one of my all time favorite dog movies! I could watch it over and over. It has adventure, excitement, great acting, and above all it has loyalty!
Here's some movie trivia:
There were eight dogs represented in the movie, played by a total of 16 dogs. One dog played in the close up shots and the other dog acted the action shots.
The Dogs "Dewey" & "Truman" are named for the 1948 U.S. Presidential candidates Thomas E. Dewey and Harry S. Truman.
The movie is based on a Japanese expedition to the South Pole in 1958, in which the party was faced with extreme weather conditions.
The name of the "Lamborghini" of Snow Cats that they borrowed from the Italian camp was named "Mare Biscotto", it translates to "Sea Biscuit".

About the movie!
In the Antarctic, after an expedition with Dr. Davis McClaren (Bruce Greenwood), the sled dog trainer Jerry Shepherd (Paul Walker) has to leave the polar base with his colleagues due to the proximity of a heavy snow storm.He ties up his dogs to be rescued as soon as the storm passes, but the mission is called-off and the dogs must be left to survive on their own until Spring.
For six months, Jerry tries to find a sponsor for a rescue mission while his dogs fight for survival.

- When I heard for this movie, I thought this is just another "Snow dogs" (Cuba Gooding Jr.), and I was totally wrong. Good movie.
