--Downdraft Exhaust - exhaust system that pulls smoke and steam out of the kitchen. This is located in the center of the cooktop. It has 3 variable speeds to choose from.
--Ceramic Glass Cooktop - A smooth cooktop surface makes cleaning quick and easy. This was defintely a must-have.
--"Ribbon" Heating Elements - Provides powerful heat beneath the glass surface to ensure even heat and fast warm-up times. The heat is actually directed straight up toward the pan instead of out the sides.
--Bridge-Element - Combines three of the cooktop elements into one large cooking area, ideal for oversized cooking pans or griddles. I tend to place 3 small saucepans on this one element and it works perfectly. This element is located on the left side of the cooktop.
--Dual Size "Ribbon" Element - Your choice of using a 6" or 9" heating element, depending on the size of the pan. These elements are on the right side of the cooktop.

The controls are located at the bottom of the cooktop so that you don't have to reach over the hot stove.

When the burners are turned on, an indicator light comes on to alert you to this fact. Once you turn them off, they remain on to alert you to Hot Surface until they are cooled down. This will also alert you to make sure that you turn the burners off. I have forgotten this before and gone back only to find the lights still on.

Kitchenaid offers a variety of sizes in the downdraft cooktop. They offer a 30 inch as well as a 36 inch model.
