We're Gonna Turn It On - We're Gonna Bring You The Power...
When my brother and I were little kids, we would run to the TV from wherever we were in the house when we heard those famous words "Hey You Guys!". We knew that one of our favorite TV shows, The Electric Company was about to begin!
Now that we are adults, we still fondly remember some of our favorite Electric Company songs, skits and characters. Does anyone else remember Easy Reader, Fargo North, Decoder, Jennifer of the Jungle or Vincent the Vegetable Vampire?
There were so many wonderful songs and skits on the Electric Company. I managed to find a few of my favorites on YouTube and included links below. I really loved the songs done by Tom Lehrer, and there was also so much wonderful animation on the show. I may have enjoyed watching the show more on DVD as an adult than I did on TV as a child! Actually, there are some "hidden adult" jokes thrown in that actually make sense to me now and, of course, didn't when I was six. What a great way to learn to read!

Yes, actor Morgan Freeman was a regular on The Electric Company. He played such memorable characters as Easy Reader and Vincent the Vegetable Loving Vampire. Irene Cara
Irene Cara was a member of the musical group "The Short Circus" on the show. The group consisted of several kids who played instruments and sang songs on each episode.
