Dog and humans alike love wide open spaces. However pooch owners must keep their animals safe and maintain a sense of order both inside and outside their homes. Training dogs to recognize and respect special boundaries is difficult enough, but add over-active barking into the mix and owning a dog can be maddening. To combat this aspect of pet ownership many companies offer electric dog fence systems and bark collars%u2026you can relax now.
A Fenceless Fence
As contradictory as it may seem, an electric dog fence is a "fenceless" fence of sorts. That is, no planks or wooden boards are needed for installation. That is, many pet owners choose an electric dog fence because it either cuts costs or because they can avoid closing themselves in.
Understanding how an electric dog fence works is fairly simple, whether using a wireless device or an electric wire buried underground, an electronic signal is transmitted to a receiver located on the pet's collar. Pet owners then choose which locations, indoors or outdoors, to be monitored. The next step is to set the level of intensity of the receiver on the pet's collar. Depending on the product, the collar emits loud beeps/tones as the dog reaches the boundary and then relays electric shocks if the boundary is crossed.

More Bark than Bite
It is hard to ignore the ear drum rattling sounds of a dog's bark. No matter if it is a small chirpy lap dog or a large and boisterous guard dog, it is equally annoying. For pet owners it may also become a strenuous task to train their precious pooch to curb the barking.
With bark collars pet owners can have that need help. Before using such a device pet owners should recognize that bark collars emit both audible stimulants, in the form of sharp beeps/tones and physical stimulants, in the form of electric shocks. Choosing to use bark collars is more than a practical decision and a veterinarian should be consulted, making sure that Fido does not have any health conditions that may be aggravated.
Wide Open Spaces Anyone?
The need for clean and clear space is universal. Just like your children need space for a swing set your dog needs room to frolic (or whatever dogs do). it follows, that pet owners must balance respecting a dogs special desires with his or her responsibility for the pet's safety. This requires humans to train and command dogs to respect boundaries and other behavioral "norms".
This can be approached in a plethora of ways. Some pet owners have a natural way with animals and seamlessly praising and scolding their pet to the desired behavior. Sadly this is not as simple for the rest, and training the most beloved of pets becomes tiresome to say the least. For the latter group of people external devices such electric dog fence systems or bark collars can be the needed bite behind the bark in getting optimal behavior from any dog.
