Electric guitar tabs are like a visual picture of your fretboard. "Tab" is short for "tablature." All that is is a system of writing down music so that others can read it. Don't worry! It's nothing like classic staff notation. It's much easier, and pretty quick to learn, especially if you're a visual learner.

Basically, what you are seeing when you look at tablature is a diagram of your fretboard. Look at the picture on the right. Each of the six lines is a string, with the bottom line representing "E." On each line there will be a number, which tells you which fret you're going to play. It's that easy!Okay, it's not that easy.
