Electric Skateboard Review

You control the board with a pistol grip controller that controls the acceleration and regenerative braking. It is pretty easy to ride a electric skateboard even if you have never ridden a skateboard before. If you ask me, it is a lot easier than a regular skateboard as you always have both feet on the deck. The range is also quite decent. The furthest I got was a 14 mile ride. After wards the battery needed a full charge up.

The only drawbacks of the electric skateboard are that they break fairly easily and go slowly up hills. The brand I recommend, E-Glide, with insane acceleration and power. 90 day warranty on the board and electronics. 6 month battery warranty.

There are 2 companies who make these boards: Altered, formerly known as Exkate, and E-Glide. Altered boards have a cool wireless controller, but the boards are made in China and the customer support is not the best.

E-Glide, on the other hand are very dedicated and care what they are selling. They concentrate on only using top of the range components to build their electric skateboards. Furthermore they are the only electric skateboard company who doesn't import premade powerboards from China.

I personally ride the "E-Glide / 44 Magnum" a Madrid board designed by Crossbow USA. Lots of concave, and beautiful lines. At 44 inches in length, it is a Ferrari among electric skateboards.

The electric skateboard was invented by Californian Louis Finkle. Louis made the first analogue electric skateboard in 1993. It then took seven years to make it to production, and thirteen years later it has yet to reach the tipping point where we currently stand on the verge of mass popularity of electric skateboards.

Louis single-handedly  developed the electric skateboard with money from his own back pocket. It took about 5 years just to perfect the invention of the electric skateboard and since then it has undergone several transformations, with cheaper, more robust electronics, the electric skateboard is finally starting to catch on to the masses.

Due to the high costs involved in the production of the electric skateboard Louis was only able to commit to a few orders and therefore the first few electric skateboards were simply sold to people who wanted them the most and had the funds to back it up.
But it wasn't until 2004 when large scale production of the electric skateboards caught on with the Exkate X-24,the granddad of electric skateboards.
The Exkate X-24 was is very impressive electric skateboard with wireless remote control and excellent spec, the problem however was that it also had a price tag to match!
Shortly after the arrival of the X-24, the next generation of electric skateboards emerged from another Californian company - E-Glide.

Hot on the heels of the X-24, a new company called E-Glide brought a radical new approach to the design of electric skateboards. They pulled together the best technologies from all areas of industry and assembled them by hand in their US headquarter.
This level of obsession and commitment to quality by E-Glide has led to the production of the best specs on any electric skateboards currently available. E-Glide is currently the undisputed king of the electric skateboard world and as long as they remain there, I am sure I am going stay and be one of their biggest fans!

The first skateboards were simple wood and wheel constructions. Today's skateboards are more sophisticated designs, but they are still constructed in essentially the same manner.
Skateboards of the future will continue these refinements, and also incorporate futuristic technology, such as solar power and the ability to hover, as it is developed.

There are two main ways that many believe that skateboards will evolve; these are
motorized skateboards and hover boards. Though these designs are likely a ways off, several engineers, designers, futurists and skateboarders believe that they will eventually be possible. Many considered this issue and some of the ideas were pretty futuristic, yet potentially feasible. Advances in technology will affect skateboarding as they will affect many other products, by making features available that today we only dream of.

The hover boards, or flying skateboards, would be shaped like a skateboard deck, but would not require trucks or wheels for propulsion. As seen in the "Back to the Future" movie, this board would simply fly through the air, about a foot away from the ground. Along with flying cars, this technology has been featured in sci-fi movies depicting the future for decades. They have been on the drawing board for years, but the technology is not yet available to produce such boards, though many have tried.
