Consumer Electronics
The term 'consumer electronics' refers to electronic equipment meant to be used in everyday situations by the general public. Products that fall under this term are often relatively cheap to purchase (though there are exceptions) and the prices are constantly falling. There are really to many different product categories aimed at consumer to list, though some of them include: phones, gaming systems, computers, tv's, hi-fi's and video players.
Most consumer electronics brands are based in either USA or Japan. A few well known companies are Sony, Panasonic, Apple, Samsung, LG and Philips. The last two are based in Germany, Europe. Though the headquarters of these companies are spread over the world, most of the actual manufacturing takes place in Asia. Part of the reason for this is probably the abundance of cheap labor, and the advanced robotics equipment available in factories.
