Wonderful to Collect, Great to Use - Elegant and Depression Glass

My top ten reasons for loving elegant and depression glass:

10. This stuff is beautiful!
The piece shown here is a Cleo green etched covered vegetable bowl - one of my favorite pieces!

9. Real people used this before us. Someone had this and treasured it and now you can have it.

8. Add class to your dining room. Yes, you can use vintage glass.

7. Be different from the neighbors. Everyone can have the best selling glass or contemporary made-to-market collectibles. YOU can have real vintage glass.

6. You like the colors.

5. It is fun! Collecting means finding and exploring and then enjoying. Sounds like fun, hmm?

4. You really don't want the same old made-outside-the US stuff on your table.

3. You got a few pieces from your grandma or your aunt and it would be really great to have enough to use.

2. The kids and your sister and your significant other all tell you how hard you are to buy gifts for. Start a collection and they will have a big choice of what to get you every gift giving occassion.

1. Did we say fun? Beautiful? Gives you goosebumps thinking of the people who owned it before you? Yes, that is elegant and depression glass and it is wonderful stuff!

I hope you end up loving glass as much as I do!

Beautiful Elegant and Depression Glass

How to Make It Easy to Give You Gifts

Elegant and depression glass is the beautiful stuff your mom or your grandma may have had. Maybe they had it stashed in the china cupboard where it got all icky from dust or maybe they were wise and used it for Sunday dinner or when the relatives came over.

If you want to add a touch of vintage charm - and don't want clutter or junk - then start collecting glass. You can find beautiful glass in a rainbow of colors and designs.

Elegant glass is "good" glass, quality crystal, often clear but sometimes colored. You can find it etched, cut or plain and in a huge array of styles and designs. Depression glass was mass produced - no one thought it valuable or "good" at the time - and added a spot of cheer and color in the midst of the depression. Depression designs can be intricate or geometric and you can find every color in the rainbow from cobalt blue to the palest yellow, ruby, pink or red.

And you know one of the best things about collecting glass? No one will ever say you are hard to buy gifts for!
