An elephant themed nursery is unique and really cute. It can be gender neutral or customized for a boy or girl easily. Here are a few ideas to get you started -

- Start by choosing your color scheme. It's always a good idea to start with an inspiration piece such as this blanket. This will give you something to refer back to as you choose the rest of your items.

- You should also decide on the general look that you want for the room. Modern, whimsical, cutesy, traditional, or a combination of a couple different ones?

- Once you've chosen your style and color scheme, select your furniture. If you want a modern room, choose pieces with clean lines. For a more traditional look, use vintage pieces or reproductions (never use a vintage crib). If you're after a whimsical look, use an assortment of pieces and bring them together with paint.

- Accessorize the room with child friendly items. Fuzzy rugs (in the shape of an elephant would be adorable), cute artwork (see below), and plenty of toy storage are a must.

- For custom and inexpensive artwork, buy a plain canvas for each letter of your child's name. Paint an elephant shape on each canvas and then paint one letter of your child's name in the middle of each elephant. (If you prefer, you can create a similar version with picture frames and paper.)
