Elephant Family Charity - Elephant Parades

While in Amsterdam in 2009 my family noticed beautifully painted Elephants decorating the city. It was hard to go anywhere without noticing them. At the time we hadn't heard of the Elephant Parade, the plan to auction the Elephants through Christies, or the Elephant charity. Now the charity is something that I think about often and I'd like to share some of the photos of Elephants that we took while in Amsterdam.

The Elephant Parade in Amsterdam in 2009 was a huge success raising a record amount for for the Elephant Charity.

2010's Elephant Parade was held in London and raised over Four Million Pounds!

Where has the Elephant Parade been held?

Singapore 2011

Stephen Fry on elephant long-distance dating

"I'm utterly delighted to be in a long-term, loving and co-dependent relationship with an elephant. The rumours of a trial separation in October were nonsense. It's true I flirted with an African elephant while on safari but it meant nothing."

I've not seen anything like that around here, but I know elephants are amazing creatures, and these are wonderful tributes to them.

Funny coïncidence? My eldest daughter has been connected to the elephant parade through the firm she works for and she has been at the auction. They're beautiful aren't they, all designed by artists. I've seen all elephants in the book she got. I'm sending her the link you your page, she will love it, I'm sure.

No I haven't seen this type of Elephant parade, only the parade of elephants when the circus gets to town. I have seen something like this done with cows in Texas. Cow Parade and they are all painted up so neat. Enjoyed your lens and congrats on making the Squidoo front page.
  • TheHealthCabin Jan 26, 2012 @ 5:24 pm | delete
