The Elf On The Shelf Will Mesmerize Your Children Year After Year

The Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition which began simply as a Mother telling this story to her children.

When her children asked her "how does Santa know which boys and girls are naughty and which ones are nice" she simply stated that there is a magical elf who reports back to Santa. So this simple tale which started in the 70's has grown year after year and has since become a Christmas Tradition in homes around the world.

If you have young kids, they are probably already getting excited thinking about Christmas and all that it brings with it.

The Elf on The Shelf is a wonderful Christmas tradition to introduce into your home. Not only will your children love it but you will probably find they behave even better than usual, as they believe the Elf will report back to Santa, which can only be a good thing.

There are several different Elf on the Shelf products to choose from. Some are like the first one we have highlighted on this page which includes the blue eyed elf in addition to the book, and a few others just have the book, just the elf or more elaborate gift sets.

The Elf on the Shelf

Book and Blue Eyed Elf

This is a wonderful book to read to your children at bedtime ( or even just during the day when you want them to calm down) and will get everyone into the holiday mood.

As we all know Santa needs to know whether a child has behaved or not before he delivers the toys on Christmas Eve, so Santa sends his Elf down to watch over the children, and report back to him.

The Elf sits on the shelf (or mantlepiece or kitchen table) and after watching over the kids during the day, returns back to the North Pole and to Santa every evening to report back the information.

It is key to remember to move the Elf around as he will lose his magic if your children find him in the same spot when they wake up every morning.
He ( there is a now a female elf on the shelf) is supposed to have been to the North Pole and back after all. so they would expect to find him in a new spot every morning, The children can register their Elf online and can give him or her a name.

The Elf on the Shelf is a great tradition for any family with young children - so why not get yours now. It's never too early or too late to get ready for Christmas since we all know it seems to come around faster every year.

Parents remember to move your elf every night. Since the elf is suppose to go back to the North Pole every evening and when he returns he will always show up someone place else in your house.

In the book, children are told not to touch the elf or he will lose his magical powers. Some children accidentally do touch the elf, so if you get a small container of glitter and mark it "magical elf powers" and your child does touch the elf you can stop his or her crying by sprinkling a bit of magical elf dust. Trust me -it will work wonders.

But do remind your child that the magic dust can't be used often so they should refrain from touching the elf.

I remember in my childhood always seeing paper cut out elves sitting on all the shelves and picture rails etc. but I didn't know the tradition behind it - thanks!
I must remember to make some nice paper cut outs of my own Elf on the shelf for this Christmas!
