Who is Eliane Kabwa

I love, love, love East Africa! Born in Burundi, married to a wonderful man from Rwanda, having lived, worked and extensively travelled in that part of the world, I think that the best tourist attractions in East Africa are amongst the best kept secrets.
For starters Zanzibar! Off the coast of Tanzania, this tiny island in the Indian Ocean has the longest, most beautiful, non-crowded white sand beaches that I have ever seen. It has very few tourists and the beach in the center of the little town becomes a display of the most exquisite food in the world! The seafood is fresh (literally from the ocean to the grill), most of it is grilled on open fire using the wide range of spices freshly collected from the local farms. The aroma draws you from a mile away! And for a drink; you get these freshly squeezed juices using a very rudimentary tool (fascinating to watch!); their coconut juice is to die for! It is cool, thirst quenching and just the perfect sweetness to cool down the spicy food that I always end up choosing. If you are going to East Africa, this is a must see destination!
The only disadvantage; the place is HOT! If you can't handle the heat; make sure you are indoors at midday or best still in the pool; and get out early morning and late afternoon. Or better still, GO SNORKELING! Oooooohhhh!!! I did not want to leave! It was so beautiful; the water is blue, green and clear and the underwater population is just an explosion of colors and texture!
