Into the open...

This Chicago native is a the New York Times bestselling author with at least nineteen books under her belt; including We Are All Welcome Here, The Year of Pleasures, The Art of Mending, Say When, True to Form, Never Change. Her critically acclaimed book, Open House, was an Oprah's Book Club selection in 2000.

I first came in contact with her work when I read her nonfiction piece, Escaping into the Open: The Art of Writing True. I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I did.

Does anyone know which other book, besides 'talk before sleep' where the author parallels death to being the first to come in from outdoors and arrive home and be glad you've arrived.

I haved loved every one of Elizbeth Berg's books. I am now reading "Home Safe." So far it is a parallel of my life except I am divorced.I find myself laughing at Helen and the things she does to her daughter. Sounds so familiar to me. I have three sons, but there is that bond with Mother and daughter that is just so different. Keep writing please Ms. Berg.(I actually hate the "Ms" but don't know what else to call you. Will give this book to my daughter when I finish and she will not roll her eyes the way Tessa does. I know my daughter does it too and says,"Mom, Mom," she probably wants to die when I try to correct her or POINT OUT things I think should be imporoved. Thank you for so much pleasure in reading.
    Sincerely,
    Jane McMahon
