Queen Elizabeth I of England, born 1533, died 1603. Reigned from 1558-1603.
Known as 'The Virgin Queen' because she never married (despite a close relationship with childhood friend Robert Dudley, later Earl of Leicester) and or had a child. She was also known as 'Gloriana' and her reign became known as 'The Golden Age'.
Daughter of King Henry VIII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Half-sister to Queen Mary (known as 'Bloody' Mary) and Edward VI.

Cate Blanchett is probably the best Elizabeth I ever! Joseph Fiennes is Leicester. Richard Attenborough plays William Cecil.
Elizabeth R
Glenda Jackson plays Elizabeth opposite Robert Hardy.
Masterpiece Theatre: Elizabeth I - The Virgin Queen
BBC production in four episodes, featuring Anne-Marie Duff as Elizabeth, from imprisonment during her sister Mary's reign through her own reign to her death. Great sexual chemistry between this Elizabeth and her Robert Dudley!
Blackadder II [Region 2]
Probably my favourite series - Edmund Blackadder tries to keep his head in the court of Elizabeth I - the childlike Queenie, played for laughs by Miranda Richardson.
Elizabeth I
Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons star in Channel 4's production of the Elizabeth story.
