Elizabethtown Kentucky

Ranked #8,409 in Travel & Places, #221,840 overall

Welcome to a look at "Etown!"

Elizabethtown Kentucky is a two century old city on the edge of a new phase of its history, as economic, cultural, and technical changes bring an end to old ways and a surge of a new and very different population.

A realignment at Fort Knox has re-assigned the armored military presence of this region to Fort Benning Georgia, and will eventually bring in almost 10,000 permanent military personnel, 5,000 in just the next few years. This will change the demographics and needs of the region, and open up new possibilities for this once largely rural municipality. How will Etown meet those new needs? Let's see what is here and now: in time we will add the plans for the future.

Which Way, Elizabethtown?

I think at this crucial time when new residents are entering Hardin County because of the realignment of Fort Knox, and old businesses and residents are leaving the central downtown area of Elizabethtown, that Etown should take its fate in a new direction and redevelop downtown as a tourist center that blends modern and trendy attractions that entertains the town's population with historical and attraction interests that will bring in tourists. It is an interstate hub in the perfect spot to attract traffic from all directions. What is your prediction of what will happen to Elizabethtown?

My prediction

I believe that Elizabethtown will develop a truly unique festival that draws in thousands each year.
