"An Avid Bible Student"

type=textEllen White's achievements are all the more amazing when one reads of the overwhelming obstacles which confronted her throughout her life.

The daughter of Robert and Eunice Harmon, Ellen and her twin sister were born on a wintry night November 26,1827 in Gorham, Maine. Her life was uneventful until her ninth year when she was on the way home from school with her sister and a friend when they heard angry shouts behind them. As Ellen turned to see who it was a classmate hurled a stone that hit Ellen's head.

The impact was so great that she remained unconscious for two weeks. When she finally regained strength, she was left with a disfigured face and the after-affects of a serious head injury. She never again regained her health and had to discontinue formal schooling.

Perhaps it was this which led her to depend upon spiritual values so heavily, and to become so great a force for humanity.

Following her misfortune she became an avid Bible student and being intensely religious, she did not miss a chance to share her love of Jesus to all those around her.

"Most Remarkable Woman"

type=textEllen married James White on August 30, 1846 and they had four son's together two of whom died before reaching adulthood.

She began writing at the age of 17 in 1844 and continued until her death in 1915. She always encouraged the reading of the scriptures first and foremost.

The historian George Wharton James' s said, 'This remarkable woman, though almost entirely self-educated, has written and published more books and in more languages, which circulate to a greater extent, than the written works of any woman of history."

But now she is gone but her writings and books, painfully produced at such a great personal cost are with us. Her writing's and her books in print, makes her perhaps one of the biggest, best selling authors in world of literature; and perhaps one of the least known by popular standards.

During her lifetime she wrote more then 5,000 articles and 40 books. Ellen White's writings have been translated in many languages and is the most translated woman writer in history and her legacy speaks for itself.

Ellen White's books are inspiring, educational, and full of compassion for others and you will gain a greater understanding of the Bible and of our Savior who came to this fallen planet to save all who will accept Him. May you also be blessed as you read these wonderful books.

The Bible First

type=textEllen G White's writings never replace the Bible. She described herself as a lesser light guiding to the greater light, which is the Bible. The Bible will always be first. Ellen Whites writings constantly encourage and instruct people to study the Bible. Others that call themselves prophets or messengers from God will show their falseness by instructing their followers to ignore the Bible in favor of their own writings.
