El Rel del Art
Manet? Meh. Picasso? Ptui. El Rey is the premium choice for genuine home-made original art, fresh baked for your living room enjoyment.
Much in the manner of Spiderman and other important superheroes, no one knows El Rey's true identity. He is reputed to live in "Scottsdale," which some believe to be an anagram of the ancient Mayan city of Assdetoctl. His movements are shadowy; his influence, incalculable.
More about this towering artistic enigma can be found at El Rey's web site/secret lair, elreydelart.com
Surly Squid and Squidoo, like peanut butter and bananas
Surly Squid was one of the first El Rey creations to attract national attention. OK, to attract the attention of two programmers who were in a band together and a super nice girl in Brooklyn Heights.Surly was a prescient harbinger of everything Squidoo would become. Squidly. Surly. &$%#!
Three reasons to love El Rey

- He is an intergalactic primate of mystery.
- He paints funny pictures.
- He sometimes wears pants.
Just because it seems to fit

Start your collection
The beginning collector of El Rey might want to start with prints. They're cheap as hell and they will make your friends laugh. Or confuse them, which might be even better.El Rey's prints come delivered to your door luxuriously wrapped in a ziploc bag. With cardboard.
"All prints are in unlimited editions, so collector types should look elsewhere. I'm a reasonable man, however, and will add that a sum of $5,000 buys you not only 20 prints of your selected design, but the right to watch me destroy the original. Maybe with an ax, or explosives!" The masked wrestler piece reminds me of the art that Owen Wilson's character has on his wall in The Royal Tenenbaums. This is a cool lens!

Huzzah! More artists who use their powers to fight good and evil and make us spew coke on our monitor. This is a proper use of the Fauve style if ever there was one. Thanks for telling us about him!

Word-put-togetherer, obsessive, part-time crank. No, I am not El Rey.
