Flaming Star starring Elvis Presley
Flaming Star is a 1960 Western film starring Elvis Presley, based on the book Flaming Lance (1958) by Clair Huffaker.
A dramatic role, its been said that Elvis Presley gave one of his best acting performances as the half-breed Indian "Pacer Burton," who has trouble deciding where his loyalaties really lie.
Elvis' beautiful co star Barbara Eden adds to his confusion! The film's working title was Black Star.
Elvis Presley plays Pacer Burton, the son of a Kiowa mother and a Texas rancher father. Along with his half-brother, Clint, the four of them live a typical life on the Texas frontier.
Life soon becomes anything but typical when a nearby tribe of Kiowa begin raiding neighboring homesteads. Pacer soon finds himself caught between the two worlds, part of both but belonging to neither.

Elvis Presley Movies - Movie Years
In the 60's, the boys, Red West, Marty Lacker and Joe Esposito went everywhere with Elvis. Elvis was in great demand making back-to-back movies, as many as three a year. With the demanding activities of his busy life he had very little time at the end of the day for his own recreation. So Elvis started taking uppers when his day of filming was coming to a close, Elvis and the boys would then go out for an evening of fun and games. During those demanding movie years, Elvis became dependant on pills to help him sleep, also to wake him up.
Although the movie making days were very demanding, Elvis enjoyed being part of these years, he enjoyed being on location with his friends, he loved being surrounded by all the young actresses on the set with him.
The Memphis Mafia boys loved being involved in the fame and glamour, too. They didn't think that being high was such a huge price to pay for being part of Elvis Presley's magical world.
But as time went on the pills where becoming more frequent and in stronger doses. The boys no longer looked at popping pills as being fun - it became frightening!
Vernon Presley loved his son dearly and was very concerned about Elvis' growing dependence on the drugs. Vernon hired a private detective from 1969 to 1975 to find out how his son was getting the drugs.
When Vernon confronted Elvis with the information he had received. Elvis just smiled at his daddy and told him if he didn't drop the conversation, he would be cut off his 75,000 annual income.
Vernon didn't give up, he loved his son very much and wasn't about to ignore his alarming concerns for his sons health and well being. Vernon though that the Memphis Mafia boys were a bad influence on Elvis, so he fired them-Elvis would rehired all his boy back.
Vernon always tried to stay close by his son, in case of a real emergency arising. And naturally, Vernon tried to save his son, but there seemed to be nothing he could do.

Elvis Presley Movies - King Creole
King Creole is a 1958 Elvis Presley film and soundtrack based on the 1952 Harold Robbins novel, A Stone for Danny Fisher. It tells the story of a young, tough musician making his way in New Orleans. It was adapted for the screen by Herbert Baker and directed by Michael Curtiz, famous for Casablanca. It was the fourth of Presley's films.
King Creole is remembered as one of Elvis Presley's best movies, and is probably the only one that was ever taken seriously by the critics. Most critics call King Creole his best film and best performance.
Because the more serious and gritty film strayed from the pretty scenery/pretty girls plotless formula that the legions of Presley fans wanted, the good reviews of the movie filled Elvis with deep satisfaction and accomplishment, which would stay with him right up until his mothers sudden death.
It was less than a smash at the box office.

On the idyllic Greek isle of Kalokairi, single mom Donna Sheridan (Meryl Streep) goes into a tizzy when her bride-to-be daughter (Amanda Seyfried), in a bid to learn her father's identity, invites three of Donna's ex-lovers to the wedding. Buoyed by the tunes of ABBA, this effervescent yarn -- a Golden Globe nominee for Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) -- also stars Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård as the trio of potential dads.- 002- Dreamgirls

Broadway's definitive girl-group musical about three women who have high hopes for fame but end up paying a price for it makes its way to the big screen with Bill Condon at the helm and a dream cast that includes Jamie Foxx and Beyoncé Knowles. Eddie Murphy co-stars in an Oscar-nominated role, but Jennifer Hudson took home the golden statuette for playing the strong but slighted Effie. The film was nominated for eight Oscars overall in 2007.- 003- Sweeney Todd

Johnny Depp reteams with director Tim Burton for this big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, earning an Oscar nod as vengeful Sweeney Todd, who becomes a deranged murderer after being falsely imprisoned by a sinister judge (Alan Rickman). To cover his tracks, Todd enlists the help of Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), who disposes of the victims by baking them into tasty meat pies that become the toast of London.- 004- Hairspray

Set in 1962, this colorful adaptation of the Tony-winning musical (spawned by director John Waters's cult classic of the same name) follows ambitious teen Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky), who tries to integrate a racially divided Baltimore one watusi at a time. The film's star-studded cast includes John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Allison Janney, James Marsden and Amanda Bynes.- 005- The Phantom of the Opera: Special Edition

Director Joel Schumacher brings Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical to the big screen. Gerard Butler stars as the disfigured, reclusive genius who roams beneath the Paris Opera and takes budding star Christine (Emmy Rossum) under his wing. But as he falls for her, she finds love with handsome Raoul (Patrick Wilson). Enraged, the Phantom nearly kills Christine, but soon refocuses his efforts on expressing his love -- and humanity -- through music.- Try Netflix free for 14 days
