Email Campaigns - Keep Them Spam Free and Legal!

Sometimes we are so busy with the main events of running a business, we may miss out on the little things that could upset our efforts.

Are Your Emails Compliant With the Law?

I don't look good in stripes!

I took a great class through Renegade University on the ways to use different email campaigns for your marketing.

The class focused on the use of an
email marketing software
to help manage email and auto emails. I was very interested because I am to the point where I need all the help I can get in managing my lists! Email campaigns are great but only if used correctly.

I learned something that took me somewhat by surprise.

I know that it can be a big headache if your email gets tagged as spam. Not only do you run the risk that your client will never see it, but you can find that it becomes more and more difficult to send any kind of email -- even personal!

I also know that you must be sure that anyone on your list can "opt out" if they no longer want to receive your updates. What I did not know was that according to the FTC's CAN-SPAM Act, you must include your physical mailing address in the email. It is illegal not to! This is why it is so important to keep up with your network marketing training.

Many, if not most, network marketers work out of their homes. One of the really nice advantages of a home based business is the generous tax benefits available. However, placing my personal address on all outgoing correspondance, compromises my privacy when all the while I am striving to respect the privacy concerns for my clients!

I don't think it's prudent for home-based businesses to give out their home addresses for all the world to see.

As of May 12, 2008, the FTC has clarified what is considered a "valid physical mail address." The new definition includes the sender's current street address, a registered Post Office box with the US Postal Service, or a private mailbox with a commercial mail receiving agency that is compliant with United States Postal Service regulations.

This is important stuff, folks, because the penalties can be huge and the damage to your business irreversible. Go over the CAN-SPAM act yourself, use a reliable messaging service, and look into listing an address that protects your privacy!
