Email list is like an ATM machine!

This is what I heard from an internet marketing guru. Whenever he needs money, he will email his list!

Building a mailing list is a very important marketing effort that is often neglected by bloggers. They are often obsessed with statistic about the pageviews, number of visitors and RSS subscribers. Those are very important statistic you should watch out as a blogger. But never neglect that the traditional method of keeping in touch via the internet is still ---- "EMAIL".

Why do bloggers need mailing lists?

1. When your readers give you their name and email address, they allow you to contact them. Even though it is temporary (they can unsubscribe anything with a mouse click), as long as your emails are useful and relevant, subscribers will stay in your list for a long time. The permission to contact them using email is a very powerful.

2. Ask any successful business what's their most important assets? Almost all of them will tell you it is their network and their client list. Mailing list is like your prospect list. You can convert them to become your client and generate income for your blog.

3. You can drive more traffic to your blogs with a mailing list. You can setup an periodic email to send out updates about your blog.

4. You can engage your subscribers and be personal. You can ask their feedback
directly using email. You can ask them to forward useful information to their own mailing list, helping your message to go viral.

5. You can send exclusive and relevant offer to your mailing list, thus generating additional income.

How to build your mailing list?

You need your blog visitors to provide their email and permission to contact them. They are afraid that you will giveaway their email address. They are also afraid of spam. Use the following methods to clear their doubt and give you their email address:

1. Put up the opt-in form at a prominent place (example: above the fold)
2. Giveaway free reports or ebooks to subscribers
3. Create trust first! When readers love your blog, they will give you their email address

How to increase your email open rate and prevent them from unsubscribing?

1. Personalize your email title - use their name
2. Provide only useful content, and your subscribers won't want to miss your email.
3. Study how other internet marketers write their headline.
4. Write like you are talking to a person, not a bunch of subscribers

How to drive continuous traffic to your blog using mailing lists?

Use a series of follow up emails!!
Your blog has a ton of great content. A new reader and subscriber don't know where to look for the useful information that's already present on your blog. You can write a series of emails and send to them one by one, showing them what is interesting and useful. You can also write exclusive contents just for the subscribers.

Why Aweber?

Frankly, I've never tried any other paid email list management tools. I subscribed and used Aweber from the beginning because:

1. I am extremely satisfied with their support and service. So far so great!
2. It was recommended by many A-list bloggers such as John Chow, Shoemoney and Problogger, over and over again.
3. Aweber ensures a high rate of successful email delivery.
4. Aweber provide many useful features that I am yet to use all of them!

Of course there is a price to pay for great reliability and service. However, the subscription fee is just a fraction of your blog income. If you have that size of subscribers, I am pretty sure that you can make much more money from the list.
