How To Pick A Home Embroidery Machines

When I was looking for my first embroidery machine here are some of the things I looked for. I hope this list can help you.

1. Cost? I looked for sales and did reading on different makers.

2.How easy is the embroidery machine? If the embroidery machine was to hard to understand or I need the book all the time then my answer was NO. I knew I had the easiest embroidery machine when I could tell the sale lady how to make it work.

3. Would I like doing embroidery on an machine? I was not sure if I would like it ! I can tell you having the time at a shop that lets you see the embroidery machine work and you can try it . That's the place to get your embroidery machine from.

4.How much embroidery would I do? At first I was just going to embroidery towels and maybe a few things for gifts. At the end of my first day my Husband said "No flowers on my underwear" I was embroidery anything I could fine or think of.

5 Would I out grow it? With the cost of the embroidery machine I had to look at would I out grow my machine and down the road be buying a new one.

6. Can the embroidery machine I get be added onto for different embroidery work? After looking at embroidery machine and the problem with out growing the machine I stared looking for the ways to add to my embroidery machine.
My answer to the problem was to get the Amazing Box and then I add the Dakota AlphaSizer Sizing Program.

Embroidery Machine Supplies

Supplies You Need

With the embroidery machine you do need different supplies from your sewing machine.

Thread -You threads for the embroidery machine needs to be Polyester Embroidery Threads 40wt for top thread. Because the cost can be high for embroidery thread you can use 100% cotton bobbin in your bobbin. Most of the time you can only get the cotton thread in white or black.

Stabilizers- Stabilizers are must have. Stabilizers come in rolls and some are for the bottom and clear for the top. As you start to learn you are going to fine the one that you like best. For me I like Floriani Stabilizing.

Water Erasable Marker- The marker is going to help you to center anything you wish to embroidery and after your work the mark does not show.

Scissors -This is very important the scissor you pick to cut the top embroidery thread. Make this pair of scissors a good one. I have used less costly scissor and have little thread standing up on my embroidery work.

Needles- Embroidery machine do use a embroidery machine needle make sure to buy extras and keep them just for your embroidery.

Bobbin- Each embroidery machine has its own bobbin make sure to buy extras so you can have your bobbins loaded and ready to go. I use a pill box the one that is for once a day for seven days to keep my bobbins in.

Pattern For Making Machine Embroidered Christmas Stockings

From Anna Bove Company

These stockings are so easy to make that once you start you can't stop. They are totally addictive. The pattern we give away with the designs is kind of "universal/unisex" however you may play with it and change it's shape to show your own character and personality.

You don't need fancy fabrics a very simple one-color woven will do it's job very well. It shouldn't be too heavy. We've chosen it to be dark-blue for this example.

You will also need some batting (preferably polyester) to make the stocking "fat" and a small piece of white "furry" material for the top. The piece of batting should be in the same size as the front fabrics.

Embroider on Ribbon

by Michelle of Abigail Michelle Embroidery

I don't think anything is as much fun as embroidering on ribbon.

If you're like me and love to add embroidery to everything I can, ribbons are just logically the next step.Of course, the most popular embroidered ribbon project is making hairbows. What fun it is to make simple bows, but add different designs to each of them! Other uses for embroidered ribbon are gift wrapping and accent trims to add to other projects.

There are many designs that are available that are perfect for embroidering onto ribbon. Mini designs are the most popular since they are offered in so many styes and sizes. At SWAK, we offer a variety of mini-designs, just the right size for your projects! If you can also find a very thin border design. those work just as great. The important thing is to use a design that is not wider than your ribbon. Check your ribbon width as well as the widths of the designs to find a perfect match for your project.

Although you can embroider on many types of ribbon, grosgrain is by far the easiest and offers the best final result.
