When I was looking for my first embroidery machine here are some of the things I looked for. I hope this list can help you.

4.How much embroidery would I do? At first I was just going to embroidery towels and maybe a few things for gifts. At the end of my first day my Husband said "No flowers on my underwear" I was embroidery anything I could fine or think of.
5 Would I out grow it? With the cost of the embroidery machine I had to look at would I out grow my machine and down the road be buying a new one.
6. Can the embroidery machine I get be added onto for different embroidery work? After looking at embroidery machine and the problem with out growing the machine I stared looking for the ways to add to my embroidery machine.
My answer to the problem was to get the Amazing Box and then I add the Dakota AlphaSizer Sizing Program.

Embroidery Machine Supplies
Supplies You Need
With the embroidery machine you do need different supplies from your sewing machine.Thread -You threads for the embroidery machine needs to be Polyester Embroidery Threads 40wt for top thread. Because the cost can be high for embroidery thread you can use 100% cotton bobbin in your bobbin. Most of the time you can only get the cotton thread in white or black.
Stabilizers- Stabilizers are must have. Stabilizers come in rolls and some are for the bottom and clear for the top. As you start to learn you are going to fine the one that you like best. For me I like Floriani Stabilizing.
Water Erasable Marker- The marker is going to help you to center anything you wish to embroidery and after your work the mark does not show.
Scissors -This is very important the scissor you pick to cut the top embroidery thread. Make this pair of scissors a good one. I have used less costly scissor and have little thread standing up on my embroidery work.
Needles- Embroidery machine do use a embroidery machine needle make sure to buy extras and keep them just for your embroidery.
Bobbin- Each embroidery machine has its own bobbin make sure to buy extras so you can have your bobbins loaded and ready to go. I use a pill box the one that is for once a day for seven days to keep my bobbins in.

Keepsake Box
By Emblibrary
Keepsake Box Is a great gift and so much fun to make it's all up to you how you make it look. I have done them from kids to grandmothers.Just love them.Embellish this keepsake box with satin, embroidery, beads, and more to hold mementos and special treasures. Create one as a gift or to hold your own keepsakes.
First, we will prepare the fabric for outer shell that will cover the lid of the box. Lay the fabric with the right side facing up. Set the box on top (lid side facing down) and trace the shape using an air-erase pen or other marking tool - leave a few inches of excess fabric around the shape.
Place the box (lid side down) on top of the batting and cut two pieces. Layer the batting pieces on top of the lid. Spray the backside of the fabric with permanent adhesive. Align the inner shape with the top of the batting and smooth in place. Then, smooth the edges of the fabric along each side and pinch the corners of the fabric together.

Artificial silk shoe bag with Victorian Glamour monograms
By Bobbie Berry
This shoe bag is easy and great to have you can make it out of anything you wish. I have some that are just embroidered with the name of the shoes I put in the bag. When I'm looking for a different gift to give to someone I like to make it luxuries .I have found the best part to be if my shoes get dirty I can just put them in the bag and wash the bag later.
Photos and instructions for making this luxuries shoe bag .
Bobbie made this purse from a piece of highly durable artificial silk, and make embroidered label on the bag, using letters from Victorian Glamour embroidery font.
Here is a photo of ready purse, and below you'll find a detailed explanation of the steps, provided by project author:
Supplies list:
A piece of durable, good-looking fabric for the bag outside
Any fabric suitable for purse lining - in matching or contrasting color
A piece of appropriate embroidery stabilizer to support monogram stitches
Polyester embroidery thread for the designs (choose colors to fit your fabric)
Victorian Glamour alphabet (or other embroidery font)
Step-By-Step instruction:
1. Decide on the size of your bag. It may be a small bag for a single pair of shoes, or a larger one, like Bobbie did. Take an appropriate piece of lining fabric and front fabric. If you can use long strips - great, because it'll save you two seams. The outer fabric piece should be about 4 inches higher than the lining.

Embroidering on Pre-Quilted Fabrics
Kenny Korner
I love doing project on pre-quilted fabric so easy and nice to work with and most of all save you lots of time. For projects that need a soft touch, pre-quilted fabric is a popular choice. Quilting, or stitching multiple layers of fabric together to make a thicker layer, was first done for utility rather than artistic effect. The layers create a warm and protective fabric with endless uses. When you need a sturdy yet soft fabric for tote bags, organizers, and cases that cushion and protect what's inside, pre-quilted fabric is just right for the job.
Choosing Your Materials
FABRIC: Pre-quilted fabrics are generally made up of a sheet of lightweight cotton fabric, stitched in a regular pattern to a layer of batting. Some pre-quilted fabrics have another layer of cotton on the back, which makes both sides attractive and useful. The stitching is often in a diamond pattern, but other patterns can be found too. Choose any pre-quilted fabric you like -- you can't really go wrong!
DESIGN: Matched with the right stabilizer, pre-quilted fabric can support a variety of embroidery, from light redwork to solid stitch-filled designs.
NEEDLE: As usual, a 75/11 sharp sewing needle will help create a crisp design.
STABILIZER: Depending on the design you're using, you may have different stabilizer options. Cutaway stabilizer is never a bad choice, and it'll be necessary for solid stitch-filled designs. Light and open designs such as the elephant stitched below will probably stitch out just fine with tearaway stabilizer. (We don't recommend tearaway often, because it doesn't provide as much support as cutaway stabilizer - so enjoy!)
Embroidering on Pre-Quilted Fabric
STABILIZER: Spray a piece of cutaway stabilizer (see stabilizer note above) with temporary spray adhesive, and smooth the pre-quilted fabric on top.
HOOPING: Hoop both layers rightly together.
Have fun dreaming up even more uses for pre-quilted fabric!

Pattern For Making Machine Embroidered Christmas Stockings
From Anna Bove Company
I have made Christmas Stockingunisex" however you may play with it and change it's shape to show your own character and personality. You don't need fancy fabrics a very simple one-color woven will do it's job very well. It shouldn't be too heavy. We've chosen it to be dark-blue for this example.
You will also need some batting (preferably polyester) to make the stocking "fat" and a small piece of white "furry" material for the top. The piece of batting should be in the same size as the front fabrics.

Embroider on Ribbon
by Michelle of Abigail Michelle Embroidery
I don't think anything is as much fun as embroidering on ribbon. If you're like me and love to add embroidery to everything I can, ribbons are just logically the next step.Of course, the most popular embroidered ribbon project is making hairbows. What fun it is to make simple bows, but add different designs to each of them! Other uses for embroidered ribbon are gift wrapping and accent trims to add to other projects.
There are many designs that are available that are perfect for embroidering onto ribbon. Mini designs are the most popular since they are offered in so many styes and sizes. At SWAK, we offer a variety of mini-designs, just the right size for your projects! If you can also find a very thin border design. those work just as great. The important thing is to use a design that is not wider than your ribbon. Check your ribbon width as well as the widths of the designs to find a perfect match for your project.
Although you can embroider on many types of ribbon, grosgrain is by far the easiest and offers the best final result.
