Emerald Isle - Fishing
The fishing pier is free to the general public. At the beginning of the pier, you walk through the store where you can buy bait, drinks, and other fishing supplies. Or, you can walk right through without spending a penny.
In the summer, both sides of the pier is lined with people fishing. In the middle are wooden benches for cutting fish. At the very of the pier there is an observation deck. (That's where I went.) Below the observation deck, but on the same level as the main pier, is an area reserved for the serious fishers. It has a locked gate and has a limit on the number of people allowed in there at a time.

Emerald Isle - Getting There
There are two bridges that connect Emerald Isle to the mainland. The video shows two guys crossing the one at the south end of the island on Route 58. The water between the island and the mainland is called "Bogue Sound" and is a fantastic place for boaters.

My family rented this house for a week in 2009. I have no financial interest in the success of the house so I feel it's okay for me to give my opinion here.
We had about 16 adults and four children staying at this house. I'm not used to being with so many people, but this house is big enough to accommodate all of us and I never felt crowded. During one rainy day, one group played cards at the dining table, while another played a Wii game and the third group played pool on the first floor.
The pool is small but very refreshing. The beach is just a short walk away. The balcony on the 2nd and 3rd floors are nice and deep with great views in every direction. The kitchen was nice and roomy. We really needed those two dishwashers.
I think the only negative was the elevator. Some folks in our group have difficulty climbing stairs and that's one reason why our family selected this house. We found the elevators doors difficult to close, and if you didn't have the doors closed the right way, the elevator cab wouldn't move. Other than that, I highly recommend this house for any beach vacation.
