An idea for your radios
Two-way radios can help keep your family safe during an emergency situation. Because disasters strike with little warning, they can cause panic, causing families to become separated. Whether it's a storm, flood, earthquake, or tornado, staying in touch can be a matter of life and death.
Before an emergency hits, put together a plan. Add 2-way radio handsets to your 72 hour survival kits, along with extra batteries. Decide which channel to use for communicating and make sure everyone knows it. Then practice what everyone should do when an emergency strikes. By following the plan, your family members can remain connected through any emergency.
Lightweight and easy to carry, walkie-talkies or two way radios are perfect for everyday communication and for keeping your family safe during emergency situations.

Each person needs to have their own kit. It is possible that family members could get separated, and each member needs to have some supplies with them personally. If walking, a child would not be able to carry very much for a very long period of time, but does need to have some items that would help them survive. A larger, more extensive family kit may be added to your preparations, but should be kept separate from the 72 Hour individual kit that is expected to be carried.
Learn why our 72 hour kits are the best 72 hour kits ever.

Nice lens. I too have a lens about emergency survival kits. You've got a lot of good content here. I live in the Pacific Northwest where we get a lot of extreme weather as well as earthquakes and volcanoes. For years, I was a member of the Dept. of Emergency Mgt. for our county. I've seen many bad situations where if people had done a little preparation, they could have greatly reduced the impact of their situation.
