Emergency Drinking Water

When it comes to being in a disaster water is not just a necessity but sadly it is also usually a scarcity in that area. Many people are not prepared when it comes to water storage. If they are they aren't fully ready. Most people usually have either a stationary water storage or a portable one. In a disaster you need both. You never know how long you may be stranded, for water to come back on, and in some cases travel to get to safety. Having an emergency supply isn't just good during the emergency it is essential before, during and after the disaster.

Why Emergency Drinking Water?

emergency water storageIn most emergency situations, fresh emergency water is the most important item you can store. It is recommended to have both portable and stationary emergency water storage. Portable water storage containers should be light enough to carry during an emergency.

Be sure to take into consideration that water weighs 8 lbs per gallon. Preparedness authorities recommend storing at least 14 gallons of emergency water storage per person. This would mean a family of 4 would want to store approximately 56 gallons of water (remember to store both stationary and portable). There are many types of containers and options available for storing water for long term.
