I found it a little difficult to find a place to buy supplies and where they could tell me what I needed. I didn't want to buy gear that would expire under a year or wasn't needed.
I ran across a company online called nitropak. They carry everything from freeze dried food to solar radio's and flashlights. ( I use these when out camping). I found that emmergency lighting was extremely important and have used mine even when the power goes out for an hour or two.

We have all be taught on what to do during an earthquake. Get under a desk, in a door way, into an open field if possible and well away from falling glass. But it is what we do after an earthquake happens and staying safe during the after shocks have finished and we are waiting for help or instructions in what to do.Disasters strike without warning just as we've seen again in SE Asia and a few months back with the Hurricanes in Florida. Most were caught unprepared. We mourn with the world at such tragic loss. Perhaps this is another wake-up call for all of us. Whether it's an Earthquake, Hurricane, Tornado, Flood, or Terrorist Attack, each of us must be personally prepared with long storing food reserves, stored water & purifiers, first-aid and sanitation supplies, etc. for a minimum of 7 to 14 days.
A 30 to 60 day reserve or more would even be better. When crisis strikes, the time to prepare is over. Sort of like trying to buy home fire insurance when the house is on fire. Now's the time to seriously review your preparedness supplies while time is on your side.
Earthquake survival packs can take many forms. Anything that prepares you to survive a disaster can be classified as first aid. We are told in case of a national emergency, especially earthquakes, or even if its just a major power outage, that we need to be prepared to look after ourselves and family for the first 72 hours.
The best way to do this is with a earthquake survival pack that carries everything that we may need to look after ourselves. this would mean bandages, splints, sterilized gauze and wipes. Water purification systems, freeze dried foods, flashlights and radios. All of these things are needed to keep us comfortable and safe. We may not need them and hopefully never will but just in case you need to be prepared of a disaster.
