Emily Carr - An Inpiration to Artists & Writers
Emily Carr became ill in 1937 and was unable to continue painting so she turned to writing books. She passed away in 1945, leaving behind beautiful works of art. Her paintings and books continue to inspire artists and writers worldwide. Many Canadian institutions have been named after this truly Canadian icon.
Today, Emily Carr's masterpieces continue to sell for thousands and millions of dollars. In November, 2008, a private Canadian collector bought Emily Carr's "Alert Bay Burial Ground" painting for $1,053,000. All her works became public domain in 1996.

Customer Review:
Emily Carr- one of the most overlooked and important women artists
If you are a fan of Emily Carr and know that there are not many books about her then you will not be disappointed. If you've never seen her work in person but are interested in women artists and art history this is a great start as it also gives an overview of some other Canadian artists in her time period. BEAUTIFUL book and such an important addition to any art historian's collection. ~CVP

- I love Emily Carr's writing even more than her paintings. She statue lives at the end of my block with of her horse, monkey and dog. I've read all her books. Don't you love the meaning of Klee Wyck?! Blessed.

- I knew she was familiar, I just check my stamp album and she her art has been featured on a couple of Canadian postage stamps (one with her "Raven" painting and another is a forest type landscape). But to tell the truth I didn't knew much about Emily Carr before reading you page.
