Emmitt Smith was drafted 17th pick of the first round in the 1990 NFL draft. He played his first season with the Dallas Cowboys in 1990. That season he won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and as a rookie he was voted to the Pro Bowl.

From 1991 to 2001 Emmitt Smith put together 11 consecutive seasons with 1,000 or more rushing yards. During those 11 years he also was voted to the pro bowl 7 more times, going in 1991, 1192, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998 and 1999.

In 1993 Emmitt Smith won a Super Bowl championship, the Super Bowl MVP, the NFL MVP and the NFL Rushing Crown. Emmitt is the only player to have won all 4 in the same season.

In 1995 Emmitt Smith had his career year by putting up his best numbers in rushing yards with 1773 and touchdowns with 25. That year also marked his sixth consecutive year being voted to the Pro Bowl.

On October 27, 2002 Emmitt broke Walter Payton's career rushing yard total and became the NFL's all-time rushing yard leader. He finished his career with 18,355 rushing yards and is currently the record holder. He also leads all running backs with 164 career rushing touchdowns.

Emmitt James Smith III (born May 15 1969 in Pensacola, Florida) is a former American football player, who played for the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. Smith is a three time Super Bowl champion and the NFL's all time rushing leader, a record formerly held by his childhood hero Walter Payton. Smith surpassed Payton on October 27, 2002 against the Seattle Seahawks at Texas Stadium. He is the only running back to ever have won a Super Bowl championship, the NFL Most Valuable Player award, the NFL rushing crown, and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award all in the same season (1993). Emmitt Smith is one of the three "Triplets", along with Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin that highlighted the Dallas Cowboys' offense during the 1990s.
