This is very helpful for those who have trouble with their over-empathic self.

...please advise me...I met someone awhile ago and literally had to jump back once I touched them and found myself in disbelief what I felt...I have not been able to let go of the person and find myself drawn to them CONSTANTLY.....although they are very far away...it hurt me so bad when a planned meeting fell through...have not seen the person since July...it is soooo hard.....unlike anyone I have ever met

As an empath I often want to hide from the world but then I find myself getting bogged down in the emotions of people who aren't even real like characters in books or movies! I had to learn to center myself and make sure I always zip up my energies...great lens!

I've been fully aware of my empathic abilities since childhood, but the past two years I have had such an increase in my empathy that I hardly venture out in public. I am looking forward to researching more of this information about grounding myself and learning how to take better care of myself so I can venture out and be a help to others. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings!

A much needed lens. Thanks for the research and presentation. Yes, I'm an Empath. The affirmation is healing.

It is a blessing and a curse, and one can never afford to be uncentred. It is a condition that requires self awareness because, as you say, there is no switching it off, which means that there is always the chance of being hit sideways by the pain of the universe unexpectedly . Thank you for this useful lens on a little understood phenomena.

When the chakra is blocked, it stops spinning and becomes dysfunctional. Chakras may become dysfunctional when they are congested with fear, stress, stale or stagnant energy. If a stressful condition continues for a long time, the chakras may close. When the physical body has to function under continued stress (distress) or depression, the chakras cannot spin and work properly and become unbalanced and blocked with stale and stagnant energy.

After becoming conscious of my own spiritual nature I've been learning and trying to make sense of what it means for me. I try to work on myself everyday and I feel like I was drawn to this site, especially with my most recent circumstances. Thank you for the work that you have done, and I look forward to putting the practices you've recommended into practice.

    Sincerely,
    PIerre

I was a people watcher from early childhood and I still remember not understanding how people could hurt each other the way they did and not even have a clue. It was always so obvious to me. I have read much from your links and sites and it reinforces my belief that I am an empath. However, I learned that term years ago while watching an episode of Charmed, ha ha. I knew instantly that was exactly what I was, I finally had a name for it. Thank you for this lens. There are many people out there who are still "alone" and haven't connected with others like them yet and that can be very lonely. As a child my family (and everyone as far as that goes) always told me how "different" I was, which hurt so much because I wanted so bad to belong. Great Lens very informational. Are you an empath?
  • dbeam Dec 5, 2008 @ 8:55 pm | delete
Wow. I'm going to go process what I just saw & read on your web site, but I guess in a word my feeling right now is "relief" [that I'm not alone]. Some of what was written felt like it was written about me! Thank you for the free tips in the video, that has given me somewhere to start and inspired me to purchase your book.

Hi Dr. Smith, I am not a writer but when inspired I like to play with "the arts" (music, writing, singing...) I guess its my feminine energy rising (the kundalini shakti) leading me on creative endavours...

By the way, I just ordered your Kit for Empaths, gotta love it!

Hi Dr. Smith, I am so glad that I found your site it has helped me tremendously. My whole life I have not experienced people as other people have. I always soak up their emotions like a sponge. I am left with their emotions. Many times I have felt drained and tired. I now have the tools to help deal with this. Thanks so much,

    Debbie
