I haven't read Enduring Love, but I certainly intend to now! This is a great review. I've only read Atonement, and loved it. I tried to read Saturday, but just couldn't get interested. Looking forward to reading this one.

I've only read half of one of McEwan's SF novels and hated it. Maybe I should try this and see if I like his writing in literary fiction better.

Wow, that's quite the review! I love Daniel Craig...is that a good reason to read the book??? Blessed! and Starred!
  • CDT Apr 20, 2010 @ 5:09 am | delete
It may not be a good reason to read the book, but it's certainly a good reason to watch the film - at least you can admire Mr Craig even if you don't like the story!

Thanks for the rating & blessing - much appreciated :)

i too have been forced into studying this novel for english and can assure you that it is only because of these circumstances i painfully brought myself to finish it.
english has now become the bane of my existence and literally dread and avoid at all costs, opening the novel.
don't be fooled by the supposed "brilliant" beginning, it gets much, much worse.

I've been studying this book pretty intensely as I'm in an English student on a current course that requires me to do so, otherwise I would have shut the book half-way through and never looked back.

I advise anyone who is interested in the BOOK, to seriously consider borrowing it or buying a rough copy for less money as I would say that it is a serious waste of time when you reach the middle chapters.

I have not seen the film but I have been told that it ends differently to the book, which - I must say - is a plus no matter what the ending is, as it surely cannot be as bad as the book.

    Thank you.

It's nice when a book comes highly recommended...too bad I have a monster pile to read already!

    Nice work; blessed.
