Enduro Motorcycles
What is an Enduro motorcycle? Specifically made for sport, an Enduro could be said as a modified motocross bike. Still retaining the motocross features such as the long travel and medium-hard suspension, the enduro bike is also equipped with a headlight and a quiet muffler. This makes the enduro bike street-legal to be used in Enduro racing. The enduro bike is powered by a single cylinder 2-stroke engine between 125 and 300 cc, or a 4-stroke engine between 250 and 650 cc.
Why such a light engine? Well, an engine size that is smaller than 650cc is an advantage in some of the Enduro race events. When the bike is lighter, it provides for easy handling, meaning that it will be easier to manipulate around trees, obstacles and such. On the other hand, a larger engine sized Enduro may find it easier to go up hills with the ease of not having to switch gears.

Enduro Motorcycles - Features and Construction
There are some differences between the many features and construction of an enduro bike compared to the motocross or supercross bikes. The enduro bike has the following differences and extras:How Do Enduro Motorcycles Look?
Well, at first glance it is safe to say that an Enduro bike is a lot like a motocross (MX) bike. Also, MX bikes have often been used by a number of riders in Enduro racing. Of course these MX bikes were all modified significantly to include features such as those mentioned above. Enduro bikes go through severe demands in an Enduro race, thus they require more maintenance compared to a regular street bike. The maintenance makes sure that the Enduro motorcycles are able to maintain their peak operating capability and is somewhat similar to that of MX bikes. However there is a slight difference in that the Enduro motorcycles will need more collision prevention/ repair maintenance.
Until quite recently, manufacturers developed Enduro bikes totally different from the MX bikes (one reason why MX bikes were used in Enduro events). These Enduro motorcycles were developed with longer service-life engines, equipped with more resilient components and with less importance placed on weight as there are no lower-limits on bike weights in a class in Enduro racing events. Now they are also developed with other Enduro specific considerations.

- Nice lens! My current bike is a little more street oriented (2006 Buell Ulysses), but I'm hoping to add a more dirt friendly enduro to the stable in the next year or two. I had a MX bike a few years ago, and I'm starting to get the dirt bug again. If you get a chance, check out my Adventure Motorcycle blog.
