Let's face it - there are tons of energy drinks out there and not all of them are perfect. This is a list of some common complaints I've heard or read about certain popular energy drinks.

Energy drink complaint #1 - FRS Healthy Energy
FRS is a popular new energy drink that is much healthier than most drinks, and it has more of a juice taste, so it's quite different than what you'd expect from an energy drink.
I have read many positive reviews, but no matter where the review is, there is always someone that is mad about the free trial...
The common complaint with FRS Energy is that people don't understand the terms of the free trial offer. (If you shop at GNC, you can buy FRS for normal retail prices, but you can also go to the FRS website and sign-up for a free trial.)
As with most free trials, you are signing-up to purchase FRS on a monthly basis, and as a reward, you get two weeks of free products. If you like it, great. If not, you will have to call and cancel your subscription before the free trial is up.

Red Bull
Energy drink complaint #2 - Red Bull
Red Bull is one of the original energy drinks and probably the most well known. Because of the popularity, it surely has tons of fans and tons of haters at the same time.
There are two complaints that stand out in my mind though: the taste and the fact that it is so strong.
Lots of people think it tastes like crap. I kind of agree. It's a really weird taste. However, I wouldn't look at Red Bull the same way if it didn't have that extreme taste. They took a weird taste and made it cool.
The second complaint is more from a parent's perspective. Many complain that after a Red Bull their child is just bouncing off the walls and even more obnoxious than usual.
