Wind? Solar? Water? Fusion? Dirt? What is our next energy source?

The big E. Energy. The U.S. is beginning to invest more heavily in new technology in terms of a new source of energy.

The United States alone accounts for 25% of global oil consumption, yet holds only 3% of the world's known oil reserves. Most known oil reserves - approximately 60% - are found in sensitive and volatile regions of the globe. The United States suffered its first domestic energy crisis with the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973, Americans witnessed the effects of our dependence on imported oil: long lines at gas stations, lost productivity, declines in the stock market, economic recession, and general economic uncertainty.

What if the big oil or natural gas fields weren't in the Middle East -- but in fields right here in the U.S. Our Inventors and Scientists are planting seeds in the field of invention that is growing so fast. It's time to harvest this field now.
Our "Field of Energy Choices" is growing. Our teams of scientists, engineers, environmentalists, and inventors have had solutions for many years. They are successful. We should have a new source of energy now. It's already begun, just google alternative energy or look into science news!

We must get the word out to those that have no idea there's so many choices! Give this lens good rating too! I've done the research on many new inventions, see below. (The Water energy is the most amazing, next to algae Vertigro)

Energy Crisis? - Energy Discoveries abroad.

(Tip of the iceberg.) We have all the resources we need to be a net energy exporter right here at home.

Ethanol the new process to work towards weaning us off of gasoline? As everyone looks for alternative energy sources, we also must work to keep it sufficient to be less than the cost to make it.

Cellulosic ethanol. This can be made from wood chips, switch grass, and other agriculture products. The projected cost to make cellulosic ethanol has dropped by more than 60 percent with the help of the Department of Energy and President Bush.

Burning Salt Water using radio waves.
http://www.ecogeek.org/content/view/951/
"They clearly pointed out this is not an energy positive process... All this was, is a proof of concept. Now you need money to do the research to generate the radio waves using less power. It may come with time, just look at cellphones over the past decade...with money comes research and improvements."

Solar and Wind installations has been going upwards... Wind is now below the cost of coal which previously was the least expensive source of electricity.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe many discoveries have been made. Hydrogen vehicles convert the chemical energy of hydrogen to mechanical energy (torque).

2005 Renewable Energy - How has it changed since then?

Quotes - U.S. Presidents about Energy alternatives.

"Our overall gasohol program will spur the investments that we, together, must make for a more secure energy future. We will create new markets for our farmers. We will no longer have to throw away waste materials which can be turned into profitable essential fuels."
-President Jimmy Carter, January 11, 1980

"When we took office in 1981 only 75 million gallons
of ethanol were being produced. This year more than
450 million gallons will be produced, requiring more
than 180 million bushels of corn. It just goes to show there's no limit to what free people can do when the gloom-and-doomers stand aside and get out of the way."
-President Ronald Reagan, August 20, 1984

"Ethanol is a homegrown energy alternative.
And ethanol produces a fuel that burns cleaner.
And that's good for our environment - just plain
and simple, that's good for our environment."
- President George H. Bush, June 13, 1989

"Ethanol production increases farm income, decreases
deficiency payments, creates jobs in rural America,
and reduces America's reliance on foreign oil."
-President Bill Clinton, October 1996

"...[L]et me start first by telling you that America has got to change its habits. We've got to get off oil. And the reason why is, first, oil is -- dependency on oil presents a real challenge to our economy. As economies grow -- and we want all our economies to grow; we want people to be prosperous, we want people who are living in poverty to be able to grow out of poverty. We want there to be general prosperity, but as economies grow, until we change our habits, there is going to be more dependency on oil."
-President George W. Bush, March 5, 2008

Let's stay informed of the new possibilities! The water and dirt energy is new to me. Thanks, 5 stars!

We need to focus on several different energy sources, (one won't do it). Wind power is being tapped in several states but won't work everywhere. Solar power-water power... Different areas have different options. We're moving in the right direction but we have a ways to go.

Totally AWESOME! I am very interested, and want so badly solar panels, a wood stove, and a home sized wind turbine. Sure would be nice to have a water powered pickup too :) Great resource! I didn't know about the dirt!
