I only know of the seacoasts from Jane Austen. Glad to have some pictures to put into my imagination!

I discovered Broadstairs this year - why have I been going to Brighton with its pebbly beach all these years?
  • KevCooper Dec 31, 2011 @ 12:56 pm | delete
    Brought back wonderful memories, thanks.

Tintagel is lovely, the caravan site somewhat less appealing; and the whole lens is a fun armchair-trip!

This lens was fun for me. My English wife is in England right now visiting her 96 year old mother. She was born and raised in Eastbourne, Sussex. I spent 4 years in Braintree, where I met her when she was at nursing school. Really enjoyed the pictures.

I'm not sure what it is about the UK but it really fascinates me. Perhaps my heritage, I do hope that one day I will get to see how truly magnificent it is. Top lens.
  • NevermoreShirts Oct 2, 2011 @ 6:09 am | delete
These sound like wonderful places to visit... when I finally make it over to the UK, I shall have to check some of them out. :)

Nice Lense. My favourite seaside town is Whitby, just 45 minutes from the seaside town in which I live - Redcar. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
  • reasonablerobinson Sep 3, 2011 @ 9:49 am | delete
One of my favourites is Skegness which is popular with people from Nottingham. Silloth in Cumbria is a place I visited as a kid. Fish and Chips from a seaside town can't be beaten.

I live on the doorstep to the seaside towns and villages of the North Yorkshire coast, but where ever you visit they all have a unique character. I like the Cornish ones!

Beautiful seaside places. We tend to go to museums and palaces when we are in England and forget that it has these seaside places. Thanks for featuring them here.

My favourite Seaside town is Scarborough. I also love Skegness as it is close by and quick and easy to get to. I would love to one day return to Great Yarmouth though as that was the place we always went to when I was a kid.

Nice job, thanks for featuring my lens on Bournemouth with it's miles of golden sandy beaches and twin piers. Blessed by an angel.

Scarborough has to be one of England's classic seaside towns!
  • prosperity66 Feb 20, 2011 @ 7:36 am | delete
I'd love to live in a seaside town... no matter the dangers of a possible tsunami or so. And I just love English seaside towns with a passion. They kept this little Victorian something that provides them with charm and beauty. However, I think that when it comes to England, and although I'm a Belgian, I'm not objective at all, I love it with a passion, period.

Why isnt great yarmouth norfolk on your site? We have alot to offer in great yarmouth for all age groups from the young to the elderly and also we are a seaside town.
  • AndyPo Nov 28, 2010 @ 8:49 am | delete
Excellent selection of seaside towns. I lived in Burnham-on-sea, Somerset for most of my childhood and spent a lot of time in Weston-Super-Mare which was just a few miles along the coast and Brixham in Devon, where my grandparents lived. I often go back to these old resort towns.
  • Brookelorren Sep 9, 2010 @ 2:28 am | delete
Although I've had a couple quick visits in England (afternoon layovers where my English friend showed me around), I haven't had the chance for an extended stay. Thanks for the look into these interesting towns.
  • Rewards4life May 4, 2010 @ 8:30 am | delete
Great lens! Love the layout and information you've included here. I need to visit some of these places. Seaside holidays are perfect for me. Lensrolling to my Portmeirion Wales lens =) Hope you will enjoy your day!

Thanks for the lensroll and I'm glad you like this. I'll lensroll your Portmeirion lens to this one and to mine on Portmeirion Pottery.

I think we have many beautiful seaside Towns in the UK , when we were little it was always a big treat going to the Seaside. Great Lens brought back many happy memories 5*.

I'm looking for lenses to feature on one I'm doing about places we might go on our next vacation (I need people to help us decided!), and I'm going to use this as one of them for my possible trips abroad section. You have so many great lenses on England, I didn't know which to choose!
  • Sylvestermouse Sep 18, 2009 @ 6:31 pm | delete
Oops! That is actually the Dido version of "Here With Me" in the background of that video. I just associate that song with Sarah Brightman, but I honestly think Dido does a better job.
  • Sylvestermouse Sep 18, 2009 @ 5:57 pm | delete
Okay, this makes me want to move to England! I love that Bournemouth video. It certainly doesn't hurt that Sarah Brightman is singing in the background and I want that little squirrel. I promise I won't eat him!

Tintagel Castle, what can I say! Beautiful ~ History is so amazing!
  • aj2008 Jun 22, 2009 @ 6:04 am | delete
Tintagel is a fav place of mine too and now the girls are older it would be a great place to take them.
  • cjsysreform Jun 21, 2009 @ 8:20 am | delete
I love the photo of the Southend from the pier. And way to fit in the best fantasy novel ever! I love that book and I don't even like fantasy, usually.
  • GroovyFinds Jun 21, 2009 @ 4:09 am | delete
    Well Done!

Lovely look at some of our great seaside towns. The photo of Butlins looks like it has some strange white aliens about to descend upon it LOL!!
