Top 10 Reasons to Enjoy Fall

Ranked #17,994 in Pets & Animals, #515,048 overall

Top 10 reasons to love this season.

Most people I know already love this season. But I find thinking about it consciously only makes a person happier! There are reasons why I love every season, but fall is just the coziest season. Not too cold, not too hot (...well, I live in California, it's kind of always like that... but still!) The warm colors and smells of fall give it an almost nostalgic feeling. If you love fall, or even if you don't and are looking for ways to enjoy it, read on!

Reasons to love fall

This isn't in any particular order, it was too hard to choose!
  • Pumpkin & cinnamon smells. Really, when I walk into the Ralph's near my house, which is normally a dull experience, It smells so wonderful I can only stop and wonder what it is that they have that smells like that and if I can buy it. I have one "pumpkin pie" scented candle in my house, and it smells delicious. Not too sugary, but spiced just enough.
  • The colors. This one was easy! Who doesn't like rich oranges and reds? Energetic, happy, and warm, the colors of fall can brighten anyone's day. The leaves don't fall or turn orange much here in LA, but still after a windy night, my yard gets covered in leaves and this satisfies me.
  • Apple cider. Mmmm, that reminds me, put that on the grocery list. Why don't we have apple cider all year round anyway? But anyway, smells of spice and cinnamon just make me automatically happy.
  • Sweater weather. In summer, the problem is that it's just sooo hot out, so you absolutely leave the coat at home--and then when you walk inside the grocery store or movie theater, the AC is blasting and then after awhile.. you're suddenly feeling cold! Fall is a great medium where you can go everywhere wearing a sweater and never be too hot or too cold. Perfect! Also, cold-ish weather means more snuggling.
  • Fireplaces & toast. Ok, so I don't have a fireplace in my little apartment, but I can dream! This takes me back to being a kid, growing up we used to have dinner in front of the fireplace during the fall & winter. There's just something about mixing it up a little bit in simple ways like that.
  • Piling comfy blankets on the bed. In summertime, I can't deal with having more than a sheet on me, but the problem is it's not as comfortable as snuggling up with tons of blankets. I fall asleep much faster in the fall.
  • The dry air. Probably most people will disagree with me, because I know it can get a little uncomfortable and my skin is always on the dry side anyway, but I think it's kind of funny when my cat comes up to me, gives me a little static shock, and then looks at me like, "What the heck is that anyway." and walks off. Sorry, kitty! Also, seeing the blankets (certain types, especially polyester) light up with little sparks at night in the dark, is funny.
  • Halloween. It's probably the weirdest holiday that we have, and one that is usually celebrated with the best decor of any holiday. Not to mention, the candy. Mmmm, the candy. Just the other day I found where to get vegetarian candy corn (Jellybelly or Kroger's, not Brachs) and now I have a sugar headache. It was worth it! Candy corn could be a bullet point on its own, but I said 10 so I'm keeping it to ten for now!
  • Pumpkin patches & carving pumpkins. There's a childlike joy in doing this. My mom used to make delicious pies out of the insides, but unfortunately I can't cook. Great reason to go visit mom, though! One of many!
  • Baked goods! Again, I'm no cook, but I still keep getting the urge to make cupcakes? Or even just draw cupcakes? What is this? And pineapple upside down cakes aren't related to fall I don't think, but they're yummy and should be cooked often, including in the fall. So there you go :)
