Enki Bilal is one of my favorite French graphic novelist. His art and style are very distinctive. His "Nikopol Trilogy" gave him a wider audience and recognition outside Europe. Enki Bilal's stories are geared toward adults and mix hard core science fiction and fantasy. His latest work "Julia & Roem" was published in 2011 by Casterman.

Enki Bilal pictureEnki Bilal was born in Yugoslaviain 1951, he moved to Paris at age 10. He went to the Beaux-Arts for a short while, work for Pilote (a well know magazine publication editing graphic novelists). This is were he published his first short story in 1972. This is were he also met one of his best collaborator, Pierre Christin, a well known scenarist. Over the years Bilal not only published many graphic novels, he also produced films and art exhibitions (in Tokio, Paris, Naples). He produces also artwork for CD and book covers. He also did artwork for theater and operas.
