Enrique Iglesias is one of the best male singers ever. Even though my natural lenguage is spanish, I prefer Enrique's music in english.
"Escape" is an album that captures you as soon as you play it. The first track "Escape" makes you feel like dancing, the lyrics are good and the rhythm is even better, the same happens with songs like: "I love to see you cry", "Don't turn off the lights" and love songs that are also included on this production, such as the Top 3 "Hero", are very good.
Enrique doesn't have a good voice but he knows how to make his music a hit because of the rythms, the production, the lyrics and his style.
He must be the most talented cross-over artist, even though he's spanish, he's english is very good and that's something very strange with spanish people. Enrique won a Grammy award ("Best latin pop album")back in 1996 with he's first album. -- Javier Lopez (Peru)
So Romantic! Enrique knows how to put the most romanitic lyrics to a great beat! His music always makes me want to dance :) -- MrsCybersmitty (Southern Oregon)
This is an amazing album by Enrique. It is one of his best and most theatrical works. This is a pop album that really got him a lot of attention, and made him a bigger star then he already was. Escape is one of Enrique's most mainstream records. He scored massive #1's with the songs "Hero" and "Escape". "Love To See You Cry" was another great single, and while sounding very groove still managed to sound very latin. A very smooth track for the album. "Maybe" was yet another single and a nice ballad. "Don't Turn Off The Lights" was a great Rock/Pop song and was also a single. "Escape" itself was one of Iglesias's most popular songs along with "Hero". It was a great Pop track and got plenty of radio play. Instead of giving info on the singles ( which you've probably all heard already) ill stick to commenting on the non-single songs on the album.
It's not just the great singles from the album that make it an enjoyable listen. There are also non-single tracks on the album that make it fun to listen to. This I believe is part of the key to it's massive success.
"Love 4 Fun" is one of the albums fun pop tracks and aswell as having a great tune and lyrics it has a great bridge. "When you don't have a place to go, and everything feels the same. I can change what you think you know. Makin' Love my way".
"I'm makin' love for fun. Why would you do it any other way ?"
Great song to listen to. very fun and uplifting.
"I Will Survive" is another fun song off the album. It has a great atmosphere to it, and it is about a girl who has cheated with Enrique, but he know's he will survive.
This song like many on Escape just has a great tune, great lyrics. Great everything. It's a real fun track to listen to.
"One Night Stand" is a good song. It sounds quite groove with a bit of guitar in it. the lyrics go "Now i'm left up in my lonely room. She left her underwear and her perfume. I never thought that it could've felt this good, and I still feel her lips upon my fingertips." The lyrics are quite suggestive, but the song is not to deep, because it has a great tune and beat to it.
"If The World Crashes Down" is another great sounding song off Escape. It has good guitars in it, another great tune like many of the songs on this album. The lyrics are also uplifting.
"You make me strong. You make me weak. You lift me off my feet. You give me hope when all my dreams seem like their out of reach. You make me understand the way the perfect love should be. You take me to a place so high, I never wanna' leave."
This is one of my favourite songs from Escape because it is so uplifting. "You Whisper in my ear the words You're so close tonight. Hold me Tonight. and when the pain is holding me, your touch sets me free. Sometimes I think of all the things I should've said. I hope it's not too late. Wanna' make you understand. If the world crashes down over me. I know that my life is complete. Cos' iv'e held you in my arms all night. Cos' I can't imagine life without you by my side" There are also some great deep guitar riffs in this song.
"She Be The One" is another good song. It sounds a little latin, and very cool. It talks about the girls who all the guys want, but there seductive and dangerous. "Don't fool yourself. You Can't stop it if you try. She's gonna take you low. She's gonna take you high. never get enough." goes the lyrics.
"She hits the club, and everybody watches. and when she dances everybody want's it. The kinda' girl you kinda' gotta watch. She might just get away. She makes you wait. She likes to play that kinda' game. She takes your money. You gladly give it all away. She makes you nasty. Even wanna' feel pain. Then she'll make you born again". Great song on a great album.
Escape is a fun record and one of Enrique's best. It delivers some great Pop Music. It is a great listen, and a must own for any music fan. ENRIQUE FANS MUST HAVE THIS ALBUM !!! -- Chazzyb (London GB)

Enrique - Enrique Iglesias
Enrique's bid to firmly place the son of Julio in the mainstream pop firmament leads off with another midtempo dance-pop airwaves candidate, "Rhythm Divine." The track is typical of the rest that follow: highly wrought emotion recalled in a bed of glossy production that uses Latin syncopation as a reminder of the singer's roots while resolutely aiming for chart supremacy next to the likes of Celine Dion. Filled with pop romanticism--a duet with Whitney Houston, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Sad Eyes," and proclamations on the order of "I've seen the sun make love to the sea"--Enrique is easy enough on the ears, and looks like a surefire hit. --Rickey Wright

I rarely come across an album that I enjoy almost every song. This album is filled with romantic ballads such as I Have Always Loved You, and Killer dance tracks such as Be With You. Enrique may not have the greatest voice but he has got the songs, and in the end that's all that matters. Other standout tracks include a duet with Whitney Houston Could I Have This Kiss Forever and the latin flavored Oyeme. If I had to pick low points it would be the hits Rythym Divine and Bailamos, only because radio played the hell out of them. -- J. Martin "ffej26" (Woodside, NY)
This cd is appealing and tasteful. The singer is sensual and understated, making his famous father proud, I am sure.Rhythm Devine is an excellent simmering track in it's English and Spanish versions. It is a great contemporary latin track. Bailamos is another simmering International smash, and a powerful track for it's romantic pop genre. Enrique just may become the most appreciated international male vocalist. His latin pop here is the best around. Enrique is more believable than his competition Ricky Martin. For sure he is most loved by young women, though his talent is sure to appeal to all types of pop enthusiasts. Sometimes his material is perhaps too juvenile, however he is a young man, with years to mature. In time he will choose material with more depth.
"Oyeme" is a very hot sexy track with words that match the heated inflections of the singers voice. Enrique is great pop fun, though I hope the singer takes the next cd to more sophisticated material.Hooray for this cd. -- Ward J. Lamb (slate hill, new york United States)

When Enrique released his first cd back in 1995, I found it terrible, well actually the music and the lyrics were good but his voice back then was horrible. But in 1997 when his second one came out I found it better.
So in 1999 after listening to hits like "Esperanza" (Hope) and "Cosas del amor" (Love's things). I bought this tittle and I liked very much. The first song "Nunca te olvidare" (I'll never forget you) is a very good love song such as "Dice por ahi" (They say there around), "Contigo" (With you) or "Alguien como tu" (someone like you).
I also like Enrique's happier songs like "Para de jugar" (Stop playing) and one of my favorites, "Ruleta rusa" (I don't know how is the name of this game in English, I'm just gonna tell you how this game is. Is a round board with several colors and each one has an award or you can lose becuase you have to make it spin and when it stops you know if you lose or win something).
Returning to the cd, it's very good, I highly recommend it. -- Javier Lopez (Peru)
Enrique Iglesias made a third Spanish album before he was known to the American audiences a year afterward. This Spanish album turned out to be a masterpiece and Enrique's best Spanish album. I really love this talented man. The looks of a matinee-idol with suave looks, incredible voice and singing ability... Enrique Iglesias is the best male singer around today. Every song on this album is soothing, dreamy and it's the kind of music I like to hear every single day. Looking like Tony Montana (Scarface) on the front cover, Enrique is a man of his own style, unlike the irritating Ricky Martin and most new pop sensations around to date. My personal favorites include "Nunca Te Olvidare", "Ruleta Rusa", "Desnudo", "Contigo", especially "Alguien Como Tu" and even the rest of it is very remarkable. Most of the songs in his Spanish albums are slow, unlike his English albums. Enrique's talent is unorthodoxed and is the kind of talent that will linger into our lizard brain and will have us playing his music 7 years from now, even. -- F.
