Basket Woven Fabrics
Entrelac is a knitting technique that results in the formation of fabric that resembles a basket weave. You form this interesting texture by knitting a series of tiny squares in opposite directions.
While entrelac knitting may appear complicated, it only requires knowledge of some knitting basics; how to knit and purl, how to K2tog and how to pick up stitches along a knit edge. When I discovered this book, I immediately cast on the Entrelac wristers to test out the entrelac technique. Before seeing the instructions in this book, I had been afraid to attempt these fun little squares. The book has a number of other fantastic patterns, so it is absolutely worth checking out! (The Entrelac Sheep featured in this lens is also from this book)
Knitting Backwards in Entrelac Knitting
Since you end up knitting many tiny squares with the entrelac technique, it can be helpful to knit backwards to avoid turning your work with every row. This makes it much easier to keep track of your progress and to avoid tangling your yarns!

- I've made a few entrelac garments; my daughter loved her big sweater in cream, blue and green. The technique really is easy when you nerve yourself to it; blessing this lens for helping people not be intimidated by it.
