Oiche Chiuin (chorale)
"Trains and winter rains" will be the first released single for this album. From Enya's official (and totally redone by the way) website :
"This track is my personal choice for the first single also" Enya says "I particularly enjoyed our percussion arrangement in this song". Although the album had started out as a Christmas project as it began to take shape a broader seasonal theme soon became apparent. "I always wanted to do a Christmas album" explains Enya "but as we began recording I didn't feel it was right to impose a Christmas theme on certain songs." There is a new version of "Oiche Chiuin" (Silent Night) on the album. Nicky Ryan describes the new rendering as 'a choir of one'. "This is something I have wanted to do since Watermark" says Nicky "In fact I had wanted to call Watermark "A choir of one." I'm really happy that we have achieved the "choir" with "Oiche Chiuin (chorale)".

More exciting news: Enya considers giving live performances!

Enya could be set to perform in concert for the first time ever as she prepares to release her seventh studio album And Winter Came.The Donegal born singer, who has sold over 70 million records worldwide, revealed that she is in discussion over performing a number of one-off shows.
"I know it's been 20 years," Enya told a packed press conference yesterday, "but we're always talking about how exciting it would be to do a live performance of this music. But it has to be the right moment."
Enya's longstanding producer Nicky Ryan confirmed that a live show is in the pipeline - though it is by no means certain that it will go ahead.
"There are serious talks going on at the moment," he told Hot Press. "I think it would be a good idea. At this stage we either do it or we don't. We were talking to America on Wednesday about the possibility of doing a performance. Our preference would be to do it in Europe. It wouldn't be a tour, just a performance, and we would film it."
And Winter Came was originally destined to be a Christmas album, but now features 10 original tracks from Enya and two traditional hymns.
As revealed on hotpress.com one of the songs is a tribute to the late Irish guitarist Jimmy Faulkner. The song involves a slight departure for Enya featuring guitar solos as well as references to The Beatles, Elvis and B.B King.
Dubliner Pat Farrell is the featured guitarist on the track, which insiders are forecasting will be the third single, with a likely release date in the new year.

- "The first lady of celtic music." Best known as lead singer of Clannad, she has released six solo albums since 1992. The latest is an Irish Christmas album. Lots of other links.

- Bridin is the youngest child in Enya's family, the Brennan. She also is a solo artist, though she works with other family members on other projects as well. Her music isn't quite as celtic though.

A good place to start. This is the original 1996 release that I have at home. It came with a second bonus CD containing 6 tracks, mostly soundtracks (Harry's game, Robin the hooded man) and a song recorded with Bono (yes, Bono from U2, that's the one).
