Horsing Around
I would like to introduce you to Squidoo's very own RocketMom and my friend, Jen (Wysiwigs), who owns and runs Epic Farms. Epic Farms is a place where horses are saved, in some cases from terrible fates, and then raised and trained under Jen's loving care.
Let's take a look around and I'll introduce you to some of the horses that I have met through Jen!

In the picture: Shadow with his yellow "blankie".
* I would like to thank Jen and Epic Farms for allowing me to use content and photos from their website.

Lady
Lady is a purebred Arabian. From all accounts, she is a girlie-girl too! The only thing not so ladylike about her is her tendency to roll in "stuff". A white horse that wants to be dirty, but does not want mud on her tootsies. Amazing, isn't it?She was a show horse in her younger days and even did quite a bit of traveling. I've heard she has a bit of an attitude if left in the stall. How dare they?
Lady has two daughters, Rina and Taya, and is an exceptional mom!
Shadow
I will be the first to admit, I'm a Shadow fan. He is too cute. However, just like many of the cute men I've known, he throws temper tantrums and has his meltdown moments. This is where the yellow "blankie" comes in as shown in the intro picture. It seems to calm him down. He reminds me sometimes of a spoiled child, but I do love him! Isn't he beautiful? When Jen first introduced me to Shadow, I knew he was the one I would become attached to.Shadow's past is the reason for many of his antics and it is heartbreaking. You can see much more about him on Shadow's Page.
Champ
Who is this handsome fellow, you ask? Champ, the comedian, confidant, and all around good guy. He even has his own human named Cassandra!Affectionately known as "The Big Red Moo", his favorite thing to do (as his nickname suggests) is eat. He is 16.2 hands high and weighs about 1,200 lbs. He's a Tennessee Walking Horse.
One of his shoulders is twisted, giving him poor conformation and making him unsuitable for showing. He is also splay footed. However, this gives him more time for taking care of his human!
You will definitely want to learn more about Champ and his escapades!
Cinnamon
If you have a heart in your body, you'll feel for this "little" trooper. Cinnamon is an Appaloosa. The story goes that Cinnamon was used as a trail horse. He had back problems and was nearly starved to death when Jen got him.Feeding Cinnamon was very dangerous for her and her crew at first. He always thought someone was going to take his food away. He had, it seems, never been able to get enough to eat. He didn't want to be bothered with people unless they had a bucket of food.
Luckily, Jen saved him. They both lived through it and came out stronger and smarter for the experience.
Read more about her experiences with Cinnamon and his background.

Jen's Story
Now that you have met the horses and read some of their stories, let me add just a little bit more to this.Jen and her family saved all of these horses and many more from possibly terrible fates, all while Jen was going through chemotherapy for breast cancer. Yes, Jen is a survivor. She went through years of multiple surgical procedures, hospital stays, and chemotherapy. Years of painfully struggling through each and every day at work and at home. Yet, she still gave her all to provide a loving home for these creatures that had no choices in what befell them. All I can say is, Jen, you are a true heroine. God Bless You!

- This is beautiful and touching! How do you ever choose just one as a favorite? I am not normally drawn to an Appaloosa, but after reading his story, I am definitely smitten. Champ is gorgeous and has the marking and color that would normally draw me to him, but who could resist the beautiful Lady. I completely understand why you would love Shadow, it's those dark good looks:) Lensrolled to all 17 of my animal lenses.
MOST EXCELLENT LENS!
