Tried riding a horse maybe around 6 or 7 years ago, was really scared because if the height and the horse dung scattered all over the road, imagine falling on all that :P

Back to Angel Bless this lens- and a LOTD as well. I probably would love to meet Jen and her critters - especially since she did all this wonderful work while she was going through chemotherapy. Animals do help you through that though. One of the facilities that I was offered chemo at had a therapy dog, the other facility decided they were dirty and didn't allow them in. I think the benefits outweighed the risks though, there is something so special about animal love I believe it is healing. Thanks for writing this!
  • COUNTRYLUTHIER Feb 28, 2012 @ 5:23 pm | delete
This is a well deserved LOTD congrats. I know someone here in Virginia who cares for a retired police draft horse named Nite Mare and they're having a ball I think. Keep up the good work and keep telling the story for the horses' sake!

What a terrific place Epic Farms is. I'm sending this page to my daughter's best friend, who is a loving horsewoman with her own horse, 'Admiral' whom she continues to ride even though she was paralyzed in a fall many years ago. Admiral gives her the strength she needs to cope with daily life, plus the love & friendship found in their bond. Jen's love of horses gives these horses a 2nd chance at life too.

  • Sylvestermouse Nov 12, 2009 @ 12:28 pm | delete
This is beautiful and touching! How do you ever choose just one as a favorite? I am not normally drawn to an Appaloosa, but after reading his story, I am definitely smitten. Champ is gorgeous and has the marking and color that would normally draw me to him, but who could resist the beautiful Lady. I completely understand why you would love Shadow, it's those dark good looks:) Lensrolled to all 17 of my animal lenses.

    MOST EXCELLENT LENS!

Some think I'm a stud...but, I don't throw temper tantrums and have meltdowns. Guess that doesn't make me very real does it? Or maybe I'm more real than I know. Champ IS a beautiful horse. And what a wonderful cause and lens Holley. Your heart must cry, which is a wonderful trait, at cruelty to animals. I will never understand the neglect that some show towards our friends on this world.

This is just another wonderful side to you. Thanks.

Susie, send me some of those strawberries!

Epic Farms sounds wonderful Holley, and another great lens. Yes, there are strawberries at Kabetogama. I was just writing a reply to Alex in the guest book with him asking if there were strawberries too. I refreshed the lens and there you were asking the same, that was funny. Thanks for being a friend!

My Grandkids and I just read this and my granddaughter likes Champ the best :) My brother raises Arabians....and the kids all love horses. Nice lens, and nice activity of your friend.

Thanks for this lens. While I do not especially like horses (only because they scare the hell out of me) I am sure the Big Guy is aware of the good Jen has done, even while under adverse condtions of her own. In the unlikely event that He isn't aware, I will talk to Him about it the next time he wakes me up.

Jen, thank you for everything you do for these beautiful animals. You can let Shadow know that I personally think the pic makes him look like "Shadow, the Mysterious Wonder-Horse!" Give him a hug for me.

What a nice lens Holley! I'm not sure we deserve all the lovely things you've said *blush* but I thank you for them :o) I waited 34 years for these guys and I often refer to the horses as my little Psalm 37s running around out there. It wasn't until I finally got my heart right with God that horses came back into my life (and boy, did they!) Thank you again, so very much, for creating this lens for us - it was a wonderful thing to do!
P.S. Shadow wants to know if you think that picture of him and Blankie makes him look fat?
