Eric Johnson - Guitar God and Virtuoso of Tone
Photo courtesy of Loo Wood.net. Eric Johnson is aguably the "guitar player's guitarist" who has created an unmistakable style and tone for his guitar playing. Most guitar player's would recognize one of his songs by a mere smattering of notes. He is more widely remembered by the masses for his early 90's guitar-rock masterpiece when it hit the top 40 airwaves "Cliffs of Dover". That same song is what brought him first into the public eye when he performed it on the public television show Austin City Limits in 1984. When it aired, another guitar virtuoso happenned to see it (Prince), but ultimately Christoper Cross and David Tickle recommended he be singed to Warner Brothers. He made one album (Zap) and was nominated for a grammy, but his second album in 1990 (Ah Via Musicom on Capitol records) is what ultimately won him a 1991 grammy award and helped earn him a platinum record.
