Marketing your illustrated greeting cards

A place to discuss what we are doing to market illustrated greeting cards.

Here is a place for us to share our suggestions and practices that have worked for us!

Creating Great Greeting Cards

For your online PODs

Turning an illustration into a good greeting card takes more than just plopping a photo or drawing into a 5x7 format.

Things to keep in mind when creating top notch greeting cards:

1 Images are of top quality.
a. Photos in focus (unless you INTEND otherwise.)
b. Illustrations need to be clear, sharp & saved at the highest resolution/size ratio that your POD requires.
c. Have balance and focus in your design.
d. Check your spelling!

2 Give your greeting card a purpose. Perhaps it's a
Holiday - (Christmas and Mother's Day are the biggest card buying holidays,)
Occasion - (birthdays are the biggest - graduation and weddings are popular,)
Particular sentiment - (thank you, sympathy or encouragement come to mind.)
OR
"Everyday cards" should be eye catching in image and/or have wording that "speaks to" the customer.

3 Keywords: Describe image and sentiment in detail and make sure you know the POD "category" structure for profiling.
